We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anjuli Garcia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anjuli, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
I would’ve started my business within my early 20s. I went into event planning after college but I was burnt out and lost interest. I worked out so much that I missed out on family and friends.
I also love computer science, art, design and typography. I never knew how I could add those all together as a creative entrepreneur, but now I know. Lesson learned haha.

Anjuli, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After quitting my job back in 2019, I shifted into web design through independent courses. I was inspired by other designers who were able to run a creative business and still have flexibility with their life. I was determined from that point to become a creative slashie on my terms.
Now, I run Studio Junk, which is a design studio for socially responsible brands. Although it’s been a slow growth, I am much happier in terms of where I’m at. Our services include branding, brand identity, and web design and development.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Making new designer friends and overall networking has really helped me gain more traction with potential clients aligned with the studio’s mission.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is seeing the benefits from my hard work and the collaboration with the client turn into awesome results. Rather if it’s more sales or more social media traction, that’s always a plus!
