We were lucky to catch up with Rey Sunshine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rey , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was 9 years old, I told my mother I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I feel that I am living in my destiny. I am walking the path that I have been preparing for my entire life. I have accomplished so much with my singing, dance, acting rapping and modeling career. I will continue to grow and continue to become successful with my music career. I will continue to train and develop my skills everyday.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I first got into the industry at the age of 9, I always knew I could sing and dance but what else was I capable of? That was the question I felt always needed an answer. So from there my mother and I worked at the craft of being an artist everyday day, consistently, choosing discipline over comfortability helped me get to where I am today and I learned that through my mother, now that my name is coming more and more household, I try to use the things I’ve learned through my journey to help other inspiring artists, Artist Development, Dance Choreographer, Vocalist, and Model Coaching are few of the many things I try to teach my clients. I started this because I remember when it was just me and my mom trying to figure it out on our own, no help no guidance. I want to be the guidance for people who feel like they don’t have it, I wish for my business “Element Studios ATL” to continue to grow divinely so I can continue to help people and eventually on a more elevated scale. I take pride in my art, I’ve always used it as an outlet to express myself in the best light, to connect with peoples emotions and take into there ambitious and outgoing side, that’s who I am as an artist very much out there doing what makes me happy regardless of what the next person may think. Artist are supposed to create music to feed the soul and that’s what I stand on, music and dancing is like therapy. Another form of art to where you can express yourself truly

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I lesson I had to unlearn is no one is obligated to support you, no matter how much you think they should, no matter how fire you think you are, it’s no one’s obligation to support you. I’d say that really hurt the most for me because I believe it’s deeper then just the support, I’ve realized as an artist you will get looked over many times even when you know you don’t deserve it there are certain who really don’t care and that’s okay. Being an artist help me realize my worth at an early age, imagine you’re 10, 11, 12 years old and you’re trying your best to impress everyone but there’s just certain people who you can’t get through to, I had to learn that that was okay, not everyone enjoys the same thing, not everyone looks at art the same way, that’s why it’s art, that lesson taught me when someone turns there back to me it doesn’t strip me from my value at all, just because someone doesn’t like what I’m doing doesn’t take the value out of what I did. I had to think of my work as expensive and just because someone saw it as cheap doesn’t mean it is. It’s one one’s job to support you what matter before anything is that you can support yourself 100% you gotta be your number 1 fan!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I’d say being able to connect with your fans, your fans are people who get you, who see you for you and I think that is so rich. To be able to bring people together and move them in a positive way is so rewarding to me. Making an impact making that change, doing something to let people know you’re there for them and that no one is alone in this world, you always have people you can connect with who get it. Being an artist is amazing in itself because everyday you have a chance to influence someone or to change someone perspective for the better
