We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Veney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
“Veney Virtual” was the name of my business when I began my entrepreneurial journey as a Virtual Assistant. The name made sense at the time but, over the years I evolved and so did my services. Since becoming a brand and website designer, I’ve instilled in my clients who are building a brand, the importance of authenticity and creativity. The name of my business is now known as “B. Real Creative Studio” which I absolutely love! We create digital ecosystems that drive results and inspire action through brand strategy, visual identity and website design.
Being “real,” suggests authenticity, transparency, and honesty. This is an important value for my brand and it emphasizes integrity and open communication in our work. The idea of being “creative,” emphasizes the innovative and imaginative aspect of my company. We don’t just provide standard design services. We think outside the box and offer unique solutions to our clients design needs.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always been drawn to art and design and I found that creating digital designs was a natural extension of that creativity. Starting out in business as a Virtual Assistant, I was asked to do many tasks but one that peaked my interest was website design. With no experience, I designed my first website and instantly knew that was all I wanted to do. I quickly started experimenting with different design software, playing around with different colors, layouts, and typography until I developed a feel for what worked and what didn’t.
As I continued to land more and more design projects, I began to develop a more sophisticated understanding of the principles of design, such as balance, contrast, and hierarchy. I studied the work of other designers, both online and in books, and began to apply what I learned to my own work.
Over the years, I have honed my skills through trial and error (just keeping it real!), working on countless projects for clients, investing in better tools and equipment, and seeking out more challenging projects.
Through this process of self-discovery and self-directed learning, I not only developed the skills and knowledge that I needed to become a successful brand and website designer, but I have grown to be an ambitious and unapologetic businesswoman that I am quite proud of. While formal education and training is super beneficial, my passion for creativity and willingness to learn and experiment allowed me to develop my own unique style and approach to design, and to build a thriving career that is like no other.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
As the owner of a brand and website design company, my mission is to help aspiring and current entrepreneurs establish a strong and memorable brand identity to help them achieve their business goals by providing a comprehensive suite of services that will help them establish and grow their brand.
Our approach to brand strategy involves working closely with our clients to develop a clear understanding of their goals, target audience, and unique selling proposition. By delving deep into these core elements, we help our clients develop a brand strategy that is tailored to their specific needs and that will resonate with their target audience.
Our focus on visual identity is another key aspect of our mission. We understand that a strong visual identity can help our clients stand out from their competitors and build a memorable brand that people will recognize and remember. By leveraging design principles such as color, typography, and composition, we work to create a visual identity that captures the essence of our clients’ brand and communicates their values and messaging.
Finally, our website design services are an essential component of our mission. In today’s digital age, a strong online presence is critical for any brand that wants to succeed. We use our expertise in website design to create custom, responsive websites that are visually appealing, easy to navigate, and optimized for search engines.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative is using my skills to create something that is unique, visually appealing, and effective in communicating my client’s brand to help them clients stand out from the competition and connect with their target audience. When clients see their business grow and succeed as a result of the work my team and I have done, it is incredibly gratifying.
