Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tatiana Cooley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tatiana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I strongly believe that the main hinderance, when it comes to seeking success, are fear and pain.
Fear / worry that you’re not good enough. Fear that you won’t make the right decision, take the right risk, learn the right thing, or fear of what others will think. Maybe, it is fear of failure or inadequacy.
Pain occurs in mico-aversions; like going to the gym regularly, or making your bed. Or in maco-aversions, like financial loss or family hardship. Either way, our brain tells us to avoid pain.
But it is when we learn to love the fear/pain and understand that it is the process to success, and in fact, the only way to see success, we have a mindset shift that only has one option: succeed. When I say this, I mean it with infinite certainty: when we make no excuse and embrace fear and pain, we learn, adapt, and have no other option but die or succeed.
Tatiana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started as a copywriter, which now, with AI like Chat CPT, is almost an extinct profession. While working for this company, I naturally began utilizing my articles as the spine for other content within the organization. I quickly was promoted to content director. In this position I planned photoshoots, wrote scripts for promotional videos, organized and designed magazines & more. As a hobbyist in many art forms like dance, photography, film, painting, music & more – this progression seemed organic and harmonious; a blend of my analytic mind & creative self.
As I worked more in the marketing industry, I began freelancing these services. The progression was natural, and the freelancing built momentum. Both my father and mother have been business owners of multiple endeavors, so owning my own business didn’t seem like a far-fetched concept, it too felt organic.
Which brings us to today, or tomorrow, or yesterday – depending on when and where you may be reading this. Now, Cooley Creative LLC brings our clients powerful tools that blend professional knowledge with engaging and creative concepts for content creation and marketing.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Do good sh*t. People are attracted to authentic business people and good work. When you are genuinely trustworthy and provide a good product, you foster good client relationships. It doesn’t help to be really fun too. I’m a firm believer that your energy will attract the right people to your business. Again, move forward and do good, and you will grow.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
“Amor Fati” is a phrase I have tattooed on my right thigh. It is a latin phrase that represents a stoic principle; directly translating to “love of one’s fate”. The direct translation lacks full insight, but in stoicism, it means the understanding that embracing what has happened, is happening, and will happen is the only way to find true harmony. This doesn’t mean we don’t control our own destiny, in fact, quite the opposite. It means that regardless of environmental happenings, we have control over our own mind, which then can impact the environment around us.
I became more enlightened with this concept through different personal struggles. As I have been in an abusive marriage that resulted in a second dependent marriage. This left me divorced two times with two children by the age of 24. I could have wallowed. I could have bought into shame that society wanted me to feel. I could have believed other peoples opinions of me when they made derogatory commentary of my divorces and/or decisions. I could have bought into tradition of things being too hard or too risky.
But I persevered because I have a deep love and understanding that life is (a) something everyone gets to experience personally and doesn’t need to explain to anyone, and (b) is only able to be enjoyed because we understand that beauty of contrast between pain/pleasure, fear/boldness, sadness/joy, sickness/health, and so forth.
