We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sherelle Speed. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sherelle below.
Sherelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I’ve taken was quitting my 9-5 and becoming a full time artist, I’ve always manifested a lifestyle that allowed me to be free with my schedule and not have to work for anyone and have the availability to work as i pleased. Which ironically i work more now then i did with a job. But the risk was necessary in order to be pushed to the next levels.

Sherelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I became a painter because i wanted to be known for something, i didn’t want to just be know for sherelle the girl that work at a call center. I wanted to be recognized and known for something. And durning this time of me trying to find what that something is, I experienced something traumatizing that lead me to finding an escape, that escape just so happen to be art. As i become more and more familiar with a paint brush i started posting my work. Which led people to complimenting me and wanting to purchase my original pieces, which led me to finding that something to be recognized and known for. So that’s when i created the art doll. Once i started pursuing art the more i self taught the quicker i found my signature style in art. This signature style would land me murals, and commissions and paintings being in the hands of one of my favorite singers ms erykah badu. I am most proud of my ever lasting support and those that’s been following my journey for years. With out that consist support i would’ve probably given up.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience by creating a brand. Branding is super important because it professionally ties your company and it is the first initial form of representation your clients get from you. When i do any events i try to wear some form of pink or purple to give off a doll like essence. My audience is constantly growing via the internet because i try to be consistent with my posting, i try to be human and relatable. I create content such as reels and TikTok’s just to keep something fresh for the audience to look at and want to stay interested and engaged.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is to stay active, fresh, and keep putting my art in their faces and To show that I’m versatile.
