We were lucky to catch up with Trinity Grau recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Trinity , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My whole life has been about stories. I grew up in a family of proud immigrants, who each had their stories. Their loves, their losses, their paths to get to where we were today. When my father first lent me his old Canon Rebel T6i, I was drawn to capturing the tiny, magical moments that make up a full life well lived. When 2020 hit, my high school business of shooting senior portraits and family photos changed drastically. Coming out of the pandemic, I was approached and asked to shoot weddings. From the very first wedding I shot, I knew that this was what it is all about. Making brides and grooms and their families feel comfortable on their day as they make memories that they’ll get to relive again and again through photo and video. That’s why Llena Vida Media is so focused on natural photography and weddings that truly celebrate your unique love story. I love to encourage couples in celebrating what makes their love their own.
Trinity , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been most proud of inspiring other brides to find their voice in how they tell their love story on their wedding day. More and more brides are embracing making their wedding day a celebration of who they are and where they come from. It’s been amazing to see how many brides are inspired by the message of owning who they are and their cultural backgrounds as a significant part of their story.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I’ve found that the best way to get more business is by being personal. I know we often say “it’s all business”, and I think that includes the personal, messy sides of life. That’s why I emphasize living a full life – that’s why my business is named “llena vida media”. Stepping up to offer more to my clients – whether that be through the experience on the wedding day or leading up to it – has allowed me to grow in my business. I am so blessed by the amazing clients I’ve worked and the experiences I’ve been able to share with them.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the things I’ve had to learn is that my imposter syndrome doesn’t have to be the determinant of how much I grow. I have a choice in the value I put on the products I provide and what I can do for my couples. The moment I realized that happened when a couple I was on a discovery call with looked at me straight through the camera and said “you seem too good to be true”. I realized then that the way I was severely undercharging wasn’t just harming myself – I wasn’t demonstrating the quality of my brand or my business. I wanted to make brides and grooms feel confident in their decision to book with me. They deserve to feel like what they’re paying for isn’t just cheap – Llena Vida Media is a business all about making people fill like their life is fully and well lived.
