Rachel , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I take makeup school by end of 2018 , graduated in early 2019 . from that moment I knew I want to pursue this career professionally . not long after that in early 2020 covid happen , everything shut down, while just at home doing self-quarantine I decided to playing around with my professional camera . I learn autodidact how to oprate my camera and strobe lighting and sometimes asking advice from my photographer mentor in LA via zoom call Latter that I know I become professional makeup artist and professional photographer in the same time
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
how I into makeup is actually from my basic knowlage because I have to do it for my self for a years I was proffesional singer for 15 years . I work with cover band for big resort and hotels all over the world such as Jakarta and Bali at Indonesia and Agadir, Casablanca , Marrakech in and Morocco
every night I have to do hair , makeup and wardrobe styling for my self and sometimes for a whole band crew for 15 years
I retired from music career in 2015 because I have to following my husband for his work which required us to moving overseas . we moving to Los Angeles from London UK in 2016 , it’s hard for me to connect with local musician in LA . so decided to pursuing different path . before makeup journey I work for 2 years in retail , it was fun but I know in my heart its not the one I’m looking for for my carerr , I stopped and decided to take makeup school in 2018
I have out going personality , “shy” is not in my book , so while I’m in LA I know I have to make the best of it of my time, so I contacted so many professional model , actor , dancer for TFP Collaboration ( Trade For Photo) to become my makeup model and also did a fashion photoshoot for them . I build my portfolio super fast . I also submitted my work to fashion magazine . I got published several times as professional makeup artist , photographer and stylist at the same times
while in LA my work always around big project such as Music Video , Film , TV Commercials , Red Carpet and many more
With my experience I landed working with pretty big name people in the industry , Designer Christian Siriano , Dj Afrojack , Actor Mark Rosspelle , Reality TV Show Teresa Giudice
Currently I lived in Philadelphia , the demand is different than LA but with portfolio and experinece I have luckily it didn’t taking me that long to get recognize by Philadelphian community
I’m thankful that Los Angeles experience giving me such big impact in my career .
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is I never feel presure in every work I did, simply because I like my job every client have different needs and that’s the challenge , if I can beat that challenge in each work I feel more confident , and I really like the fellings
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
