We recently connected with Nancy Ofoegbu and have shared our conversation below.
Nancy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I have hired a team who manages my business social media. I find that it takes away the stress of coming up with content to post and allows me to focus on other aspects of my business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Nancy Ofoegbu, I go by Nancy GLO. I am a stylist and content creator based in Dallas, TX. I am the owner of GLO Styles (@glo.styles), a fashion styling firm based in Dallas, TX. G.L.O stands for Guiding the Looks of Others and is catered to helping women look and feel confident with their brand by building their wardrobe. GLO Styles specializes in personal/fashion, event, virtual, and editorial/ photoshoot styling.
I have been in the in the fashion industry for almost eight years. I started off with producing fashion shows straight out of college, from there I found myself working in pageants, and also working as a lead stylist/creative director for the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), styling both local and international celebrities.
I am a promoter of faith and self love. I want to empower and inspire others to be who God created them to be. My motto in life is “live the life that you want, or sit back and watch someone else do it. The choice is yours. It’s so simple, but it all starts from knowing who you are within.”
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped me build my reputation within my market was the relationships I have built over time and also who I have always been as a person. I am a very hardworker. Anyone who has ever been around me will tell you the same thing. I am always working in some form or fashion. I don’t do anything in a subpar manner. It’s either I am in or out. That is how I have always been. As far as relationships, I understood that it’s all about who you know. During the pandemic, I started going on instagram live every friday. I would invite other stylists to join me for a quick chat. It helped me to get to know them and also for us to bond over similar interests. I have also been able to meet amazing people through word of mouth from people who have met me.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been creating content that caters to my target audience. I think it helped me to stay in most peoples faces when they scroll down their timeline. I create videos that capture myself styling a client or creating videos of myself wearing different looks, giving some points and tips for potential clients, etc.
