We were lucky to catch up with Natalie Goessmann Price recently and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Yes, Pulling yourself away from the business is a must to refresh your brain, gain new perspective, and most of all take care of your mental health. I believe everyone needs a vacation to take some time to reset. Life is not just about money. Our company values work-life balance.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello to everyone that is taking their time to read and learn more about me. My name is Natalie Goessman-Price. I was born and raised in the Southern Island of the Philippines. When I was 21 years old, I moved here in the United States of America. Just like most immigrants, I aim to live in this country that provides security, and full of opportunity.
Moving to this country was very challenging for several reasons. I had a language barrier that made it hard to communicate. Got bullied by a few people because of my accent. But that didn’t stop me. I used what negative experience I had to become more driven in life.
With that said, I worked in various places and industries. Mostly financial institutions and customer service driven companies. I am always the type of person that is looking for something to nourish my experience and knowledge. I dabbled in selling make up brushes, eyeshadows, and other beauty products online. I didn’t have the money or capital to really make it as a full-time career. So, I decided to market my experience a decade ago to this Jewelry shop in Downtown San Diego and help them be on Amazon marketplace. That was my real introduction to selling online.
Fast forward to 10 years, working for other companies and helping them make millions in revenue, my husband and I decided to build our own small business. That’s where we come up with selling different kinds of product in different categories. Being a small business owner comes with so many challenges, but the reward is greater than the risk.
When looking for a product to sell, make sure that it is something that solves a problem, and serves a purpose. Getting to know the market and your customers’ needs. The demand for the product is one of the most important aspects of the business. Marketing your product through social media is also a must. Most of all having a great team will help your business go where it needs to be.
I encourage people that are planning to open any type of small business to just take a dive and do it. It is better to have tried and failed than to wonder and regret they never tried at all. In our experience, the business we opened gave us financial freedom and was able to buy a house, a car and paid off debts.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
Our products can be found on our website, Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, and eBay. I used to love selling on Amazon. The customer base is so vast that you will have a huge opportunity to be successful if you know what you are doing. But, these past few years there are a lot of hurdles selling on there. From copycats/knockoffs, price war, competitors that has more budget on marketing the products outside the platform.
Every year you have to adjust your price point to make sure your product is still competitive and profitable.
I find Walmart marketplace to be a good place to sell as well. Competition is not as much as Amazon.
Best to promote your own website to keep more profit and have control over your brand.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Early in the business, I have a product that I believe has great potential to yield 7 figures revenue a year. I waited and waited before launching it to the point a manufacturer in China sold it first with the price point, I cannot compete. Since I did not have a non-compete agreement with the manufacturer, I had to make an executive decision to give it up and move on to something different.
This is probably one of the painful sides of doing business, especially if you are just starting out. Always protect your ideas. Make sure you have legal documents to protect you from people, companies, and competitions that will steal your great ideas.
