Shanice, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I am Shanie a Hair & Extension professional on a mission to making hard working mamas like myself look & feel amazing all while having the convenience of bringing their child(ren) along for the ride. As a single mother of two, I know how hard it can be to find a stylist that allows mamas to bring their children or even find someone to watch them. I plan to provide childcare (with a fee) that will be able to look after little one(s) while mama relaxes & enjoys The Shanie Hair Experience. I will offer a luxury, clean, and spa like experience that will be professional, convenient, relaxing and comforting. I am sure this experience will allow my hard working mama to let down her hair (literally) and remove some stress.
Shanice, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Most people find their drive after having their first child. I, however, came back home after graduating college and became content. The year of 2020 was life changing for me, but in a good way. One door was closed with me losing my job and another door opened with me starting cosmetology school. The year 2020 and becoming pregnant with my second child pushed me to find my drive. I have always been the “family hairstylist”. I knew if I enjoyed doing hair for free that I would absolutely love doing it for a fee. I became a licensed cosmetologist in 2021 and also gave birth to my second child. I have yet to get my feet wet in a salon, but I will be able to very soon! As of now I am the owner of The Shanie Hair Experience providing “SHE” luxury extensions & accessories. Shanie Hair provides Luxury Hair Extensions that with great care will last you years & years. I know how it can be as a hardworking mama, you rarely get any time to yourself and sometimes it can be hard to look & feel beautiful. Treat Yourself! To treat yourself means to do something good and pleasurable for yourself. Now that’s necessary! Shanie Luxury Hair Extensions are just that, a Treat to Yourself that makes You look & feel Beautiful! As a single mother of two, I am dedicated to provide a luxury salon experience where mothers can bring their children along for the ride, but also still be able to relax. That’s what sets me apart from others, because most salons do not allow children. I am dedicated to making hardworking mamas look & feel amazing! And that is what I am most proud of.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I honestly never put together the initial capital I needed to start & fund my business. I kind of just dove head first and hoped & prayed that I wouldn’t spend ALL of my money! I ended up spending a lot more starting out than I thought I would need to, but that’s a part of owning and growing a business.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The chapter of my journey that I am in now illustrates my resilience. I am at a slow & steady time in my business with so much that I have going on, but I will never give up on building generational wealth for my children. My business is setting my children up for success. I am confident in my brand and mission. I can feel success coming and I am ready to welcome it!
