We recently connected with Daphne Valcin and have shared our conversation below.
Daphne, appreciate you joining us today. Have you ever seen (or implemented) a really awesome way to show a client you appreciate them
A few years ago, I heard a podcast episode by Micheal Hyatt about the significance of wow-ing your clients in business. I spent time reflecting on what I could do to enhance my clients’ experiences with my business, Daphne Valcin Coaching, and not only did it uplevel the experience my clients were getting, but it also resulted in an influx of referrals after I began implementing those shifts.
One of the things I decided to do to “wow” my clients was to start surveying clients during the onboarding process about what brought them joy. One client received a book she loved and called to share how meaningful that was to her. In this day in age where people feel overloaded by information and don’t often receive things in the mail, to have someone think of them and send them a personalized gift can be a huge deal to anyone. For this client, it truly made her day.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I have always been passionate about helping and serving others. As early as elementary school, I can remember swooping in to help students who dropped their books or offering an encouraging word to a classmate. Fast-forward to after high school, much of my educational background has been in public relations and education. And right before getting married, I decided to bring together my passion and experience to become a certified life coach focused on career advancement and business growth. This has evolved into me focusing even more on executive coaching and corporate training after having been in business for over seven years now.
At this point in my business, I have served over 400 clients in 20 states and 4 countries, supporting individual clients to exponentially increase their salaries or revenue, enhance their productivity, develop more strategic professional relationships, and get up to 105% in salary increases. As a corporate trainer, I have supported organizations across the country in topics including emotional intelligence, customer service, resilience, and conflict resolution. I am a certified trainer and distributor of the DiSC assessment, EQ-i 2.0 assessment, Energy Leadership assessment, and The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team assessment and I utilize knowledge of these tools and other resources to equip leaders and teams.
Have you ever had to pivot?
At the onset of the pandemic, I had been doing a number of speaking engagements and corporate training sessions, with hardly any of those talks being virtual. I had to pivot quickly through gaining an expansive understanding of how to create engaging presentations via Zoom that could be interactive experiences. I spent time researching what industry experts were sharing about how to pivot to online presentations. I used time also to further explore online presentation tools to develop some innovative ways to interact with audience members and to have them interact with one another. And in the end, not only was I able to have the same amount of speaking engagements in 2020 that I had in 2019 (30 speaking engagements), but I also was able to still facilitate experiences virtually that audience members thought were transformative.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
At this point in my business, new and previous clients regularly are reaching out to become clients. In fact, this past week, three previous clients reached out to become clients once again.
I think the key to this consistent flow of clients coming into my business has to do largely with me keeping a consistent presence in the places online where my clients tend to be and ensuring that my presence evokes my brand well.
I’ve grown to understand who I am more and more as an individual personally and professionally when I am at my best and strive to exude the best version of myself online and offline. I also share various aspects of my personal development and professional journey in a way that allows people to feel connected to my path.
Prior to me becoming an entrepreneur, one of my close colleagues convinced me that I could inspire others by sharing the inspirational things I was doing and also sharing some of the empowering things I often shared with friends on social media. I wasn’t easy to convince, but in the end, I agreed that I could be a blessing to others in sharing these things. I continue to believe in the power of social media and other online tools not only to build my reputation, but also to be a blessing to others in a powerful way.
