Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vee Simonee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
The number one thing I think should change about the education system would be giving students real life experience implementing the lessons they learn in school. As we’ve progressed in our society and the professional careers, the technical knowledge is becoming futile if you can’t prove you can apply it to real life situations. I experienced that when I went out for jobs after graduating college with my Bachelors in Marketing because I felt like I wasn’t prepared to go straight to work. It wasn’t until I signed up for a 10 month long digital marketing bootcamp that I felt ready and equipped to actually apply the knowledge I learned there because I had both theoretical knowledge and the hands on, working experience.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I like to call myself the Jackiesha of all Trades, lol. I’m a multiple disciplinary creative but I specialize in creating content and marketing strategy. I’ve always loved behind behind the scenes creating visuals and showing the beauty of life in an artistic way while communicating specific messages to my target audience. Somehow I always got asked by my business owner friends for help strategizing their next product roll out or how to brand their business, how to word this and that, etc. it wasn’t until I started working in marketing for big business that I realized I preferred to help rising small business owners vs big corporations. I pride myself in taking the less traveled and helping those who need the help so they can start their rise to the top.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
It’s not always about the money and everything doesn’t have to be monetized for it to be valid. I’m great at a lot of things that could bring in 5 figures a year but that doesn’t mean I should charge people because I’m good at it. There are talents that should be monetized while others can be keep as hobbies. That doesn’t mean I’m selling myself short just prioritizing what should get the bulk of my energy and resources.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Being your authentic self will always be more rewarding and sustainable than faking it for clout. Post the content you enjoy watching yourself and are inspired by. Do the thing that you think nobody would want to watch or see or buy. Being 100% in love with what you produce will always yield a positive return on investment because the people meant to find you will and they will 1000% buy in before those you think and want to would. 1000 loyal and active followers/subscribers who you’re able to mobilize is better than 10,000 unresponsive ones who just scroll past you’re content uninterested.
