We recently connected with Kelly Mothershead and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My life’s journey has taken many turns…I have experienced a lot of tragedy but turned those tragedies into opportunities! I have had many careers…I was a hairstylist (that’s what paid my way through school!) I was a Director for a pathology medical group for over 20 years. When my oldest brother died and my mom got sick with cancer, I knew I need to change my health habits. I worked hard to get into great shape and won a national Physique transformation contest! I became a certified personal fitness trainer and opened a training studio. After few short weeks I was so busy that I quit my day job and did this full time. I tragically lost my son, my only child in 2011, I was devistated! I began pouring myself into my community and helping others. I was part of a prescription drug task force for the state of Florida and became involved with my counties coalition for the Alliance for healthy communities and the Alliance for Substance addiction prevention. In 2016, I had a bad snow skiing accident and was in a wheelchair for 26 weeks! Since I could no longer Train, I took my real estate course online and became a realtor in 2016! Again Tragedy struck, my 2nd mom and dear friend PJ was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, she was running my business at the time. I took care of her for that year, she sadly passed away in 2021 and I closed that business and went into Real Estate exclusively. I have been in the top 20% of all realtors in my office of over 600 agents and the top 500 agents in the Tampa Bay area. Don’t let tragedy define you, go out and make your life what you want it to be. Always be kind, help others, and do the right thing. Your business and your life will be a success! Come from a place of contribution and give back!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am very involved in my community. I have been involved with many charitable organizations and I am a board members for several as well. I currently serve as Rotary club president, vice chair for the Alliance for healthy communities and the Alliance for Substance addiction prevention. I was elected in 2022 to the New Port Richey City Council. I was the Pinellas Realtor association Good citizen award winner in 2021, the Government service award winner for the West Pasco Board of Realtors 2022. My business is built on relationships, meeting people and building relationships. Always coming from a place of contribution and the ability to help others. Each and every client is special to me and I am determined to always do was is best for them. I go the extra mile to ensure their needs are met. Sometimes that means helping them move, cleaning their home, planting flowers or just being a great listener.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I create a lot of business from social media. I post daily inspirational videos, personal videos and photos as well as tips for homeowners. Again, always to help others. I have developed a great referral network with realtors across the country through social media and I am able to easily stay in touch with my over 3000 friend in my data base through social media. I keep it consistent and relative. Reach out to your sphere of influence regularly just to say hello, how can I help you? Be relative, attentive and kind. Give back to your community, people want to do business with people who give back. Look for ways to be helpful and don’t constantly talk real estate.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I have pivoted more times than most! When life changes you have to learn to change with it. Its okay that your life has to take some curves, hills and mountains. just go with it! My career path has changed many times….In Real Estate I started out on a team, it was great for several years, but then it was time to be my own agent. I was a single agent and very busy. It was really hard to take time away for time off and vacations. I started a team, working with others as a team is very rewarding, I love helping others be successful too!
I have experience a lot of tragedy and my life has had to pivot many times. My son was born premature (4lbs), he grew up healthy. I was divorced twice, so being a single parent in itself has its challenges. I have experience a lot of loss in ,y life and had to figure how to keep going! Losing my parents, my brother and my son have been extremely hard, last year I lost my dog of 15 yrs too! Loss can be overwhelming if you let it. I had to take each of those tragedies and so something positive….pivot in life and in work.
