Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jillian Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jillian, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Adding a mental health page on my blog was extremely scary. Not everyone that knew me, knew that I dealt with mental health issues. There is such a stigma attached to mental health, and there are still so many people in the world that either don’t think it’s real. It was a huge step to put myself out there like that, but I knew there were also so many people like me out there who needed to know they weren’t alone. Many people who struggle, do so internally because they’re afraid of what others will think. I knew that if I was able to speak out, that others would feel comfortable doing the same.
Jillian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a motherhood and mental health blogger for over five years. I’m the mom that shouts from the rooftops that it’s okay not to be perfect. We are all in this parenting journey together and we are here to love and support one another. I tell stories of how I have succeeded in parenthood and others of how I’ve failed. I provide support and helpful tips that I’ve either come up with purposefully or accidentally. I started blogging out of a love for writing, and honestly others around me telling me that I needed to. Then having a loving husband supporting me through the whole process.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Learning what people want to read and what you’re really good at doesn’t necessarily take time for everyone, but it did for me. When I first started I had things that were there just to fill space. Now, I know where my niche is. Learning where you shine isn’t always easy or fun, but it’s worth it!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is loving other parents and people where they’re at. I haven’t always get good enough or worthy of being a mom, and I know I’m not alone in that. I want others to know they are worthy and enough!
