Alright, Amy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
I will never forget my very first client, I’m sure most small businesses say the same. All my clients hold a very special place in my heart but that first booking was a feeling like no other! After I finished my Disney College of Knowledge training and went through some training with the owner of our agency, Lynn, it was time to tell the world! I had dreamed of this moment for so long and was so excited but also nervous. I posted my announcement everywhere and I waited. Would the emails and phone calls come pouring in or would it be a slow wait? I had no idea but either way, I was ready! My first email came in pretty quickly and it was from Jen. She let me know that she had been following me on Tiktok for a long time and was looking to visit Walt Disney World for the first time and asked if I would help her. I cried reading her email and jumped right to work. Jen and her family had a wonderful time and they are in the process of booking another trip to Walt Disney World with me for 2023.

Amy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Amy and I am a travel advisor of Alluring Enchantments Travel. We as a travel agency specialize in Disney Destinations and Universal Vacations. I became an advisor the end of 2021 and it has been the best decision I’ve made. For years friends and family would come to me for advice and help in planning their trips to Disney and everyone would say the same thing. “Amy, you need to do this professionally! This is your calling and you’re so good at it.” At the time, I was a mom with two young children and not looking to make any big changes. As the years went by and my kids got older I started thinking maybe it was time for a change. Then the world shut down, the parks closed and everyone was at home, board. I did what most did, I turned to tiktok. I started posting little videos here and there and then one day I linked some clips from our Disney trips to a sound that said “Welcome to the Disney Side of Tiktok…” and it absolutely blew up! It got over 2 million views and I gained over 100,000 followers in less than 3 days. I was shocked but I kept the momentum going. I posted every day and met so many wonderful Disney lovers! Tiktok is actually how I met Lynn too! We got to chatting and I told her how I was looking to become a travel advisor. It just so happened she was looking to add to her team and the rest is history! I love TeamAET so much! We are small but we are mighty and I’m so grateful for them!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
To me the most effective way to grow is through word of mouth or referrals. My clients are so special to me and they know that by the way I treat them and work with them. I know there are so many choices out there when it comes to who will plan your vacation and the best way to stand out is to have others out there constantly speaking your name. The bottom line is when your clients know you’re constantly going above and beyond for them they will do the same for you. If they’re out and about getting their hair done and their stylist mentions they are planning to go to Disney, they’ll tell them to book with you. If they’re scrolling Facebook and see someone looking for help, they’re going to suggest you, so on and so forth. It’s like the golden rule for small businesses and it’s so important in growing a strong community of clientele.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Aside from referrals, social media is my best source for new clients. I’m consistently posting to my socials and having fun while doing it. I try to let my personality show and really let people get to know me. I also make it a point to mention that I professionally plan vacations as often as I can. If people don’t know what you do, they can’t come to you for you to do it! You also never know at what point someone is joining you so keeping that fresh in their mind is the way to go!
