We recently connected with Alecia Wellen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alecia , thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Every person I meet has an impact on my life. Some small and some big. Their words go where I go or a simple act of kindness, or hard lesson, will dawn on my memory at the most opportune time.
I hope my legacy is that for anyone that I come in contact with.
I chose coaching and consulting (with energy integration) as a way to give back for the greater good. The clients that I attract are on the cusp of doing something huge, and often times scary, and we know our work together is successful when they get to the other side of the engagement and don’t recognize themselves.
With that type of transformation there is a ripple effect and I want to be remembered for helping my clients jump in to create the ripple that goes on to impact the people, in their lives, that are watching them. What my clients do is so inspiring and bold and I know they have an audience somewhere (family, friends, co-workers, innocent bystanders) watching them do great things and become the next best version of themselves.
I want my legacy to be the spark that starts that ripple for a mass of people across the globe.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am born and raised in Colorado.
I am a single mom of two little ladies.
Undergrad in Marketing
Masters in Finance
Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC)
Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
Usui Reiki Master
The first part of my career consists of over 20 years of corporate work in the financial services industry.
After climbing the corporate ladder in financial services for over 20 years, I followed my passion as a lifelong learner and decided to learn something new. I have spent a lot of my time in the corporate world mentoring fellow employees and peers. I found a lot of purpose in both the mentee and mentor role and after receiving some positive feedback, I decided to pursue a certification program in coaching. After the first class, I was hooked and I took one step further by opening my own coaching and consulting firm as a way to pay my education forward and give back to my community.
I offer professional coaching and consulting to national and international leaders and high achievers looking to leverage their inflection points to reach a higher potential, whether it be in their personal or professional lives. I am seasoned in helping entrepreneurs, executives and small businesses explore where they are now, how they want to accelerate and where they want to go next.
Helping individuals and small businesses optimize themselves in times of transition is where I thrive in this new endeavor.
When I’m done with my clients, they are a higher version of themselves. They have described it as limitless, bold, courageous and free.
It entails taking a fresh look at what my clients want to do to better themselves and their businesses, but even deeper: who do they want to be while they are leveling up. The innovation is in pausing, realigning with value and finding fulfilment in our day to day lives. The best version of ourselves in this moment, is in and of itself, innovative. We are resourceful, whole, creative, authentic, efficient. How can we show up as the next highest version of ourselves and contribute in a better way in order to feel better, do better and be better?
I want to encourage potential clients to feel like they have the power to make real positive change in their lives if they bring me on as a coach. I specialize in coaching individuals who are at an inflection point in their life, whether it’s a change in career, relationship, or lifestyle. I have 24 years of experience in the corporate world, so I bring a unique value to my clients that coaches typically do not bring. I am a seasoned business professional, so I can offer real, proven guidance that will enable my clients to leapfrog into success.
Alongside my coaching certifications and business acumen is the energy integration piece of my business. We spend so much time on our minds and bodies with therapy, education, exercise and nutrition and we forget about our energy. Keeping balance between our minds, bodies and energy is important and as people are becoming more aware, the benefits are becoming more prevalent in our day to day lives. Connecting and aligning with energy brings our wellbeing full circle.
Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning “universal life energy”, the energy found in all living things. It is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating beneficial effects that include relaxation, feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It is a simple, natural and safe method of energy healing and self-improvement that anyone can use.
Everyone has an energy body made up of aura (energy fields), the chakras (energy centers) and the meridians (energy pathways). The energy fields take energy in, the chakras break it down, and the meridians distribute it throughout the body. Meditation occurs to reach the aura, balancing of the chakras takes place during the meditation and the healing is distributed through the energy pathways.
Reiki has proven to be an organic complement to my coaching model as a way to deepen the connection to the whole person. It’s a data point for me and for the client as we explore where they are now, how they want to accelerate and where they want to go next. It’s definitely about goals and what the client wants to do, but it goes deeper into who they want to be while they are reaching their successes.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Doing good work. Period.
I don’t invest a big dollar amount in Marketing and as of 2022, 94% of my business is referral based. I take that as a huge compliment from my prospects and clients.
The second best measure is returning clients. I have clients who I have worked with for 4 solid years. I have numerous clients who hire me for a year, step away and come back for more.
I am a firm believer that when you align with value, stand in your power and deliver authentic work, without a gimmick, it serves. My business is an attestation to that.
I’m not selling a 10 step program for success, valued at $897, but can now be yours for $97. I’m allowing my clients a place to invest in themselves and 10 out of 10 times it is resonate and sustainable for them because each client is unique which requires me to show up in a unique way, with and for them.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Ask anyone: I am a Type A person to the max. In my corporate life, it served me well! When I dove head first into my coaching and consulting business, it took me so far outside my comfort zone.
Maintaining and managing the business caters to my Type A side, but the guts of coaching and consulting took me on a journey that required me to show up, be present in the moment and trust myself and my intuition…without an Excel spreadsheet by my side.
The type of coaching I do is not just about setting and slaying goals. It’s about becoming the next highest version of yourself. Doing things you’ve never done before. Being someone you’ve never met before. Neither of those things can be accounted for on a checklist or agenda. Being mindful and present with each of my clients is required of me, in order to do what I do best, for them.
No two clients are the same, so this is a practice that is critical and looks different with each client.
It took me awhile to settle into this space, but I’m so thankful that I did because it allows so much space for unexpected results for my clients. And the rewards, in turn for me are limitless.
