Internships and apprenticeships, when done right, give interns and apprentices life long lessons. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, these opportunities aren’t accessible to many and so we wanted to invite folks who have had these experiences to share some of the lessons they’ve learned.

I think it’s important to remember that everyone has to start somewhere and the journey of learning something new is process. In nursing school there was a saying, “see one. do one. teach one.” And that saying applied to everything. We would watch someone put in an IV, then we would practice placing an IV, and finally we would teach another student how to place one too. In my time as an appretince at the shop I now work at, barbering was the least important thing I picked up. I’m blessed to be surrounded by a a great collection of men (barbers & clientele included) that work hard and always support me and everything I do. Barbershops are tricky a business to excel in and in my personal experience the foundation has to be set around the culture the shop promotes. I have always loved to learn. I get excited about all things science and the human body. From a young age, I remember loving to run. Running led me into exploring fitness and back then there were fitness magazines that I would read. I loved designing my own workouts and created this workout binder with tabs and all for the different exercises for your arms, butt, legs, etc. I just loved knowing how I could move my body and be healthy and strong.
