Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rigo Gimenez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rigo, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Being a creative is a being a risk-taker by nature. You have to constantly step out of your comfort zone to try and achieve the next big thing, the latest great creation. I see risks more as opportunities. My most recent opportunity has been launching a new business in the fashion industry named “Saint Misfits™”. Saint Misfits™ is a Miami-based premium streetwear clothing line with the purpose of showcasing your individuality and self sought-out path. I created it because I believe in building something truly special from the ground up takes love for your craft, passion and attention to detail. No shortcuts, no compromises. Since our launch of SEASON ONE© | Spring — Summer 23, we’ve been quickly building support and a dedicated following and customer base. The opportunity to build and grow a bran has been something I’ve always reached for — and this time it just feels right.

Rigo, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the creative field for almost 20 years now. You can say I’ve gone through the full spectrum in the field. From slicing HTML websites on photoshop, to creating custom MySpace profile themes, to installing signage on boats and buildings to now being in the position where I get to create for multi-million dollar companies. Currently, I am the full-time Creative Director for multiple clients, a premium streetwear fashion brand owner, an aesthetic enthusiast, a husband, and dad to the most amazing baby girl <3.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the lessons I’ve had to unlearn was the notion that you needed a college degree in order to be successful. I’m not one who will ever put someone down for doing it, all power to them, I’ve just seen first hand how important in-the-business experience is. The wins, the losses, the lessons, the mentoring. And in today’s age, with unlimited information at your fingertips, for free, you would be a fool not to take as much advantage of that as possible.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
This is something I think about a lot. Sometimes the most rewarding part of the job, is the delivery date, when the client gets to see their “baby” come to life. The feeling of having someone like your work that much, is truly priceless. It shows you that everything you’ve done to get here, was worth it. At times, however, the most joy comes from finishing a job and moving on to the next one. Sometimes people can be difficult, sometimes they will destroy your vision. Something I know all creatives find really cool is when you see your work in the wild. When you just happen to be going somewhere and you run into an ad you designed or a logo you created, or you hear someone talk about a website you created not knowing you were the one to do it. That’ rewarding for sure.
