Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christi Slider. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
As a small business owner, I get to make my community and surrounding communities better. We recently started our Annual Pooch Playoffs. It’s a march madness twist on a cutest pet contest. We take beautiful portraits of some of our clients best pooch friends, and then we set up a bracket style competition with a one pooch win all concept. The best part of Pooch Playoffs is being able to work with a local non profit and donate session fees to the non-profit. For 2023 we picked a local non-profit named Friends of Waxahachie Animal Services.

Christi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a boutique portrait photographer, which means I like to work closely with my clients to create custom artwork with them in mind for them to display in their homes. I work hand in hand with clients and involve them in each step of the process. I specialize in high school seniors. My high school senior program varies each year, but it involves mentoring high school seniors from a local school to doing a yearlong photography project capturing moments throughout their senior year that concludes with the senior receiving a custom portrait book with a letter included from parents/ guardians for them to cherish for the rest of their lives. For high school seniors, we collaborate on their sessions, from their outfits to their interests, and pour into each and every senior client. For every client, especially seniors we capture their portraits in their element, whether they are an award-winning gymnast, gaming expert, incredible bookworm, or avid horse rider- I capture who they are and translate that into a custom piece of artwork. I also photograph families and enjoy capturing memories for families and helping families decorate their homes with beautiful artwork. As a business, I like to uplift and help create artwork that reminds seniors, families, and kids each day that they are loved and are amazing just because they were created. Creating portraits is just the end product of being able to pour into people and capture the beauty of them.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yes, there is a whole community of boutique photographers, I wish I knew about them when I started this journey. They have been an integral part in helping grow my boutique photography business and in helping me understand business better.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal as a small business owner is to give like not other, and to live like no other. I hope to make my space of the world, a little better than it was before me.
