We were lucky to catch up with Jose Ludovino Sanchez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jose Ludovino thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Architecture encompasses a wide array of disciplines, ranging from physic, environmental psychology to visual culture. Almost the full spectrum. Shortcuts are not exactly the way to go, you need to understand several aspects of these components,
but my recommendation to speed up the learning process is to try to identify early on, exactly the type of service or project you would like to work on and concentrate your learning on it. With advances in technology and information, architecture as most fields has become more specialized. Its useful to concentrate on one or a set of related building types.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started working as an architect/designer after a serendipitous meeting with a developer upon arriving in Miami around 2000. I was ready to take on the challenge and one project led to another.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What drives my creative journey, is the a keen appreciation for art and design. It started as a child being exposed to modern architecture and nature. Observation led to an interest in drawing that evolved into architecture. It all happened in a very natural way.
Leading the design effort at Praxis Architecture, we strive to design spaces that integrate architecture, interior design, landscaping and art. Creating balanced compositions and places that that inspire serenity and reflection.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the most challenging times, was when I was going to graduate school at Pratt in Brooklyn. I was studying full time and still had to working 26 hours a week. That was the only option I had.
