We recently connected with Danielle Wade and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Danielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Gia Como is Italian for James (Giacomo). Named after my late grandad, Gia Como was born after I mispronounced the original translation. I spent ages coming up with a name and it felt right honoring him. I wanted to keep his name and his pride alive.
Danielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Just to tell you a little about myself. My Business is called Gia Como and I sell luxury bespoke Candles.
My mum is my biggest champion! She pushed me to go for it, as I was tired of buying candles that weren’t great or candles that triggered my asthma. After 3 and half years perfecting everything, my uncle and his girlfriend gave me the confidence to just go for it as well. They told me to stop being fearful and to stop procrastinating and just do it!
Making Gia is so therapeutic for me. Protecting my peace is sooo important to me. It allows me to be creative and free.
Based in London! Every Candle is hand-poured, with eco and vegan friendly ingredients and products, giving you luxurious bespoke Candles.
Always striving for peace, Gia Como brings serenity to your home.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I recently launched my own website, and it’s been great! Before I was selling on Etsy. The difference between them both is the reviews/feedback. I love the fact customers can leave feedback, especially for something they can’t necessarily smell from a screen. The only downside is the fees, they can be high. Since launching I’ve noticed a huge difference and because of that I am to reinvest back into Gia. I love my website!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I do a lot of markets so I maintain a lot of my relationships from face to face interactions and through social media. I love hearing people’s stories and I’m always eager to know how Gia is getting on. I’m always open to feedback as it makes me better as well.
