We recently connected with Kendall Drozda and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kendall thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The word “Nous” in French means us and what Emma and I believe is that mental health is an “us” issue when it comes to checking in on our youth.
We grew up in a time where no one really talked about mental health and we wish so much that we had someone older to sit us down and talk about ways to combat anxiety, depression, and the importance of self care.
As former athletes it’s been an
Incredible opportunity to witness and pour into these college athletes and get to talk to them about the pressures they face on a daily basis.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello there its Kendall and Emma from Nous Vision!
Nous Vision is a San Diego based wellness workshop service where mental health meets self care. We offer a variety of services such as:
* Movement Classes
* Meditation
* Hypnosis and Visualization
* Journal Prompts
* Sound Healing
The word “Nous” in French means “us”. We believe that mental health is an “us” issue when it comes to checking in on our fellow man-especially our youth. We grew up in a time where no one really talked about mental health. Our desire for mentorship as young athletes was the driving force of creating Nous Vision.
Though we primarily work with collegiate and professional athletes, we also work with corporate organizations. We believe that booking one of our day retreats will positively impact your team or business’s vitality, productivity, and morale at large.
We feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to give back, and take this role of mentorship seriously. You can follow our journey at @nous.vision !
XOXO,
Ken and Em
How’d you meet your business partner?
Emma: Kendall and I actually met way back in elementary school! When I moved back to San Diego in 2020 I knew we could work together somehow. Podcast recordings turned into brainstorming sessions, which turned into meetings, which turned into workshops coming to life. One thing that Kendall always says sticks with me “we are the people the young Em & Ken needed”.
Kendall: Yes I met Emma back in 6th grade! She was my best friends next store neighbor, and was in my little brothers class. When we reconnected, there was such an ease to our first hangout. We immediately realized how aligned we were, and discovered that we could combine our passions of mental health and self care to create something beautiful.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Emma: I think what helped us build a strong reputation as business women is our intentional pursuit with the teams and businesses we work with and want to work with. Kendall and I come prepared with a plan, and follow through on our promises.
Kendall: I also think it helps the organizations we are working with to know that we have been the in the exact same shoes as the young people we are serving. As former athletes who struggled with mental health, and the implementation of self care, they can trust us to share our journey’s with transparency.
