We were lucky to catch up with Adam O/ Inventor, Visionary and Philantropist O recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adam O/ Inventor, Visionary and Philantropist, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
Some years back, I was contacted from a friend in the prosthetic industry in Denver Colorado. He said he had some children that needed prosthetics and they could not afford the feet That I had but needed them. . . I told him I would be happy to donate the 10 children prosthetic feet at no charge, and I would come to Denver and help fit the lil Champutees,(thats what I call them) not amputees.
My friend was able to secure an indoor soccer facility to fit these lil angels., there was 3 feet of snow outside when I arrived in Denver.
I drove to Fort Collins Colorado and met all the children and their brothers and sisters and grandparents moms and dads. One by one we got each of all the children running instantly. It was the most beautiful, joyous, outrageous, spiritual, tearful, single event in my life. I have been blessed with the gifts and the Know-how and a bestiful Brain to be able to design these inventions and products from the shoe industry, and the mini home space, prosthetic industry, the bicycle industry, aerospace industry, medical devices, and sniper rifles for the military, along with specialized composite materials that I have invented and call TOP SECRET.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I consider myself in all American inventor, visionary, philanthropist creator of amazing products. I first developed shock, absorbers for mountain bikes particularly a shock absorbent seat post that is now on over 2 billion bicycles. I have loved motorcycles and bicycles since I was five years old I actually built my whole neighborhood bicycles from scrap parts that I found from around town, I was born and raised in Globe Arizona. I was the second youngest of nine children. Mother was a Spanish descent and raised all of us by her self. From the time I can remember my mother always said I was 20 to 30 years ahead of everybody, she just knew I was different than all her other kids the way I thought the way I did things how was able to take anything apart from a toaster to a television to Fossetts and sinks and put them back together in perfectly working order was my gift all the things that I’ve come to invent for the last 25 to 30 years is definitely too much to list. Here I have developed shock absorbers for mountain bikes, prosthetic feet over 50 different styles and models of feet including my own material made for military applications and then used in the prosthetic running blade designs that I have developed over the last 25 years. The gifts that my mother selling me as a young boy allows me to visually close my eyes and be able to design almost anything in 2 to 3 minutes in my head almost like a like a I computer. I have learned to use my whole brain. This has been the most beneficial for me in my designs and my creativity and my love for people to be able to help them and make the world a better place. I am most proud of being a father to a three year old daughter named Gianni. I am proud to be a dad for you. It is something I never had. The second thing I’m most proud of is having the ability to design products, especially prosthetic feet that function as good or better as a human foot for those Champutee‘s who suffer from limb loss. This is a very spiritual experience for me and everyone I help we seem to share tears together and this is the most beautiful thing. Once again it is a spiritual thing I wish everybody could experience to be able to create a product that helps. Somebody get back to a normal life and I always feel like my spirit merges with the Champutee spirit and the Lord spirit ., I always say things happen through me not to me this is my“ and the last thing I want to add for the readers is another one of my favorite quotes. Always be careful what you say about yourself because your soul is always listening🙏🏽😇😁. The last thing, I am proud of as a philanthropist using my own money., I have donated between one and five prosthetic feet every month for over 25 years. There’s nothing that warms my heart more than helping men, women and children all around the world. My goal is to get everybody on the planet walking on in my new shoes, for they will completely change your life for overall better health and keep your body from wearing out prematurely from the every day standing working out walking running and impact from excessive standing and wear and also working out. My other goal is to get every Champutee on the planet, and every village in every country in the world walking before the Lord takes me home to heaven For a second time. In 1978 I was diagnosed with two forms of spinal environ meningitis, which I laid in a coma for 60 days and 30 days without oxygen to leave me brain dead. I later died and went to heaven and there I saw my great grandmother and great grandfather, waiting for me. Calling me, said come Adam and we have been waiting for you. It’s time to come ., I said to them I am not ready to as I turned away from them to walk away a bright cloud and light descended upon me, and from this cloud, a voice came and said go back and help my people I didn’t asked The Voice is that you God. He then repeated, go back and help my people, I then said God, is that you, I have to know. The boys said tell the pope to focus on the children as the voice went away I appeared in the corner of the room, looking down at my body with my mother and my brother standing over me, saying goodbye as they were preparing to pull the plug on the machine that was keeping me alive, my mother did the sign of a cross with her and some on my forehead and said go home and then covered my face with a sheet I could feel her tears hitting my face, and I can also see this for it was like watching a movie for the balcony but it was real while they were standing above me. They had no idea that I had already died and went to heaven and was on my way back. My mother then walked out of the room a total mess, crying as a mother would as my mother covered my face with a sheet and walked away, totally broken in tears my spirit had floated down into my body. My brother said my body started shaking and then settled and then saw my breath. Blow the sheet up from taking my first breath on my come back, my brother, proceeded to remove the sheet from my face as I said to him where did mama go? My brother went running and yelling and screaming he’s alive he’s alive he’s alive mom he’s a life my mother then came into the room and saw me as I said. hi mama she fell to the floor. Cannot believe what she was seeing and hearing she was on her knees on the ground praying like a Muslim, talking in tongues, and then passed out out of disbelief of what was really in front of her which was me alive my brother went running down the hallway gathering the doctors and nurses yelling. My brother is alive he’s alive. The doctors and nurses came into the room immediately and the doctor said this is a miracle get life flight here immediately we need to get this boy to Phoenix Arizona to a major hospital . One hour later I found myself in a helicopter flying to Phoenix to get some at the hospital where I would lay for another five or six months, getting brain scans, tons of testing puzzles and several spinal taps. This was definitely the most amazing experience of my life. It set my life in a different course of action to dedicate my life to help people become healthier through my new shoe designs , I prosthetic feet designs the medical devices I have invented. As I end the story, I want people to know that today is his dad if you ever gonna be your spirit lives on forever and you will see the love ones that you lost in your life again. God bless us all and I pray for all the war-torn countries and all the people who suffer from homelessness and the effects of post Covid try and stay positive think great thoughts for you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be for whatever reason live your life with love and passion, and never give up
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
My business philosophy is very simple take your passion and your gift that you’ve been given could be anything from designing skateboards painting, as an artist, drawing auto mechanics, auto body, even crocheting or knitting, I think, dancing to the beat of your own drum shines through to everyone because of the passion and the love, and how excited that we get when we talk about the things we love and are passionate about follow your own heart for everyone is this song in the world and your journey is your journey If you want to be like everybody else they already taken same as well. Be yourself listen to your own heart trusting yourself, follow your dreams and goals, dream big, and take baby steps every day towards your goal if you can own anything in your head in your heart any dream will become yours it’s just a matter of time. This is my philosophy that I live by Experience in my journey
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I had to start from the beginning, I would not change a thing for I lived with passion, love dedication, determination, desire always followed. My own heart did not allow outside forces to interfere or interrupt my soul spirit, or thinking sometimes you have to divorce all those who are toxic in your life to move forward I think this is the key to life. The way to become ultra successful is to stay laser focused 18 hours a day on your goals and your dreams. There is no way to lose by doing this we were born winners and there’s nobody better than you. You have to know this in your head and your heart, and believe this, forgive yourself for anything that’s troubling you in your life and this will cleanse your soul for a new beginning.
