We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liza Nurhan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liza below.
Liza, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
Covid-19 made it happen. I have never thought/ imagined that I can plan an event via remote but unfortunately when the pandemic hit us and my customers had special occasions that they still wanted to celebrate with a small circle of people that’s when I decided to do what I love via remote. I would ZOOM in for meetings, and setups, we would order everything and ship directly to the customer. Yes, it was a challenge, no doubt about that. The result of that challenge was what mattered in the end.

Liza, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been always a creative soul. I’ve been a fashion designer back home, I had my own brand of women’s clothing and accessories. I enjoy the beauty in everything. I like to be in pretty outdoor parks, I pay attention to design and decor when I am heading somewhere. I decided to start my own company “Happy Mood” when I was preparing for my daughter’s birthday party. I wanted to create something different. I didn’t want to send out electronic invites, I wanted all to be hand-made and memorable. I believe that the party was a huge success!
Later “Happy Mood extended to floral and balloon decoration. I love that our customers TRUST us with their choice. Believe me, these days it’s very hard to gain valued customers and when we get a call with the event and all they provide us with basic information and the rest is “I trust you”, it means a lot. It pushes me and my team to grow and be better. Can I say we are perfect, absolutely not! There is always room to grow in general and especially when you are in the world of event planning.
Happy Mood is event planning company that ” Takes Your Breath Away”
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Trust and creativity. I had to loose in order to gain.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
First of all, as a business owner set yourself as an example. Hire people that live and breathe what we do together. I don’t want someone to come and work with us just because they need a job, I am looking for someone who will come and enjoy it. When I watch people enjoy/love what they are doing, it’s 99% success in the industry.
