Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Grownded Music. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Grownded, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned a lot of it by myself and through gaining knowledge from friends who are fellow music producers and DJ’s. YouTube has also been an immense help to the learning process but I wish I would have been more knowledgeable of music theory and mastering music before I started my music producing journey. I think the skills of mixing and mastering are the most essential at this point in my career as an up and coming producer and DJ. I was an addict and alcoholic for the better part of a decade and recovery saved my life. Now I have nothing standing in my way of creating the music I want and deejaying shows in Denver and around the world in the future.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have also had a passion for music since I first touched a piano when I was 3 or 4 years old. I could naturally play by ear and try to implement it into my music production as much as possible. I started producing and djing back in 2011 and have grown so much since then.
I provide music production and DJ services for the Denver metro area. I am pushing the envelope to provide more sober friendly music events for the community and am an advocate for recovery since I got sober from alcohol and drugs November 5th of 2020. My music is available through the main music streaming services, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud etc. I mainly post anything I’m working on or putting out at the following link below.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The biggest journey I had to take in my music production and DJ career was getting clean and sober. When I was drinking and using drugs I would never finish music projects or even show up for certain events to DJ because I was too drunk. It’s definitely a big part of the electronic dance music scene unfortunately and I am pushing to provide more sober friendly events in the scene through my DJ/Event Crew, Suppressive Fire Crew. I also currently work in recovery as a Recovery Support Manager at Step Denver downtown. It’s a men’s sober living facility where we give guys an opportunity to become a productive member of society again well getting clean and sober and help them maintain long term sobriety.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I would like to see the local community support more local music and art. Typically I see these big “music festivals” draining money and resources from the local community and giving nothing back in return. Over charging for tickets and basing the festivals around alcohol sales etc. I would like to see more sober friendly events where it’s centered around local music, art and community.
