We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Omar Diaby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Omar thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind Nakankou Alterations & Tailoring mission is that I want to make a great impact in my industry as a Professional Tailor. Before I started my business, I prayed to God about starting my own business and He gave me the vision of how to create and name my business. I named my alteration business after my Great-Grandmother Nakankou who lived until she was 110 years old. I had a strong connection with her and loved her very much. I wanted her name to come to light because she was a great and caring woman who loved to help people as a nurse. It is an honor for me to name my business after my Great-Grandmother.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my training as a Tailor in West Africa and continue to earn my certification in Paris, France. I have over 20 years of experience specializing in alterations for men, women, and children.
Alterations services offered on:

I want my potential clients/followers to know that I believe first impressions are everything. I make sure with clients or followers who come to my alterations shop or visit my social media pages get a great first impression of my work.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social media has been the best source to get new clients to come to Nakankou Alterations & Tailoring.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have built my audience on social media by posting videos showing the alterations I do for my clients. It has been the most effective in growing my business along with increasing my clients.
My advice for those just starting to build their social media presence is to be consistent and focused.
