Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Hill II. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I was just finishing up with my masters program. I had no idea what the next step would be. I applied to many jobs and received a few call backs for interviews. I still wasn’t sold on going to work in the field with my degree. One day I finally reached out to one of my fraternity brothers and inquired about me making a move to Atlanta to personal train at the gym he was currently at. After a good conversation he mentioned how the gym would love to have me. I honestly instantly loved the idea of being my own boss. In the next coming weeks I went and talked to the owner of the gym. I was initially extremely nervous but after our first conversation I knew that this gym would be a good fit for me. Without a plan , a place to stay I made up in my mind I was going to step out on faith and relocate a my business! My whole life has been based on adversity and faith. As scary as the move would be , I knew it would all work out. Fast forward to a year and half later , although the road hasn’t been easy I’m beyond thankful to have made it a year being an entrepreneur. I’m not where I want to be but I’m glad I’m not where I used to be.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always had an athletic background due to my involvement in sports. Being physical fit and active has always been my thing. Unfortunately I began to take some things for granted. During my early college years I was always out partying & eating horribly. Eventually I gained so much weight I became disgusted with myself when I looked in the mirror. After some reflection I decided to get back to my true self. I immediately set out on a mission to transform. After many months of making a lifestyle change. I lost a lot of weight and transformed my body. Many people were amazed and asked me to personal train them. At first I was hesitant because that wasn’t my thing. I eventually told my uncle who is a personal trainer about the inquiries . He immediately advised me to give it a try. He had all the confidence in the world that this was my calling. I took his advice and fell in love with personal training. I enjoy seeing a client set a goal and achieve that said goal. I believe in holistic wellness. There will be times I will believe more in my client than they do their own selves. There is just something so satisfying to see an individual grow and evolve. I also love to see my clients transformation mentally and physically . I always enjoyed helping others , this is my true passion. When I’m training my clients , it doesn’t feel like work at all. I’m very passionate when it comes to fitness and health. When training with me you will get someone who is certified and very knowledgeable. You will also get a passionate, high energy motivating coach. I offer 1:1 personal training sessions , group training , exercise plans , and nutritional plans.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe networking is a huge component in succeeding in the field. Building relationships can take you a long way. You never know the impact you are making on a person and who they know. Your reputation and relationships can put you in rooms and around others you can’t even imagine.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back I would choose the same profession. I could use my degrees, make more money and etc. however I know it won’t be as satisfying. They say if you find some you love , you will never work a day in your life again. Personal training and fitness doesn’t feel like work to me. I know this is my passion and true calling.
