Alright, 3MG Big Motion thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client?

The best client advice I could give another manager / A&R is that you can’t want it more than the client . A hungry person is going to do whatever is necessary to reach their goals . Enlisting you as their manager was one of those necessary means to get to where they think they want to be . With that being said , a manager is not an assistant or an investor . They may do that with discretion , but that is not the nature of the role . Trust your own judgement . Give 50% , but be sure that the client is giving the rest of the 100 .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I initially got into the music industry to ensure that a client would effectively navigate the music business because I believed in their talent and I genuinely wanted the best for them . And still do , but things work out how they are supposed to . My friend and colleague, Wade B. showed me a different side to the music game and I was off to the races . Music has always been a huge part of my life , so it being apart of my lifestyle now is no surprise . I am an overall Motion Maker . An originator . The Godfather of Motion . I am the CEO of Major Motion Music Group, L.L.C. (3MG) and A&R for HotProducersOnly . I manage producers and help fine tune their sounds and production . I provide services for artists and even do party promotion when duty calls . I also ambassador for different festivals such as SxSW Austin (Dj Holiday’s Hollipalooza) .

In order for me to work with a client they are to believe in themselves more than I do . Professionalism is non-negotiable and they must have top tier work ethic . They must have a budget to invest into their career . I can have all the resources in the world but if the individual doesn’t do their part then none of it matters . With that being said , if someone wants to tap in with me , I offer consultations for a serious inquiry . Im from Savannah Ga aka The Pote . However , my business is primarily ran from Atlanta .

Have you ever had to pivot?

When I first got into the business , I was so focused on building up my first client that I nearly forgot about myself . I constantly saw the client receiving gain from my effort but I received none . Then it dawned on me 1 day that I have value . I started building my presence and my brand as a result . Things went left with the client and myself . Luckily for me , I had already started building myself up because it was almost like I didn’t miss a beat . If anything I went up further because I had more time and energy to focus on what I need for me and 3MG .. Everything happens for a reason . This situation taught me to never forget myself .

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

This is a tough one . I’ve always been the type to put others before myself . Being in this business , that mentality will have you in last place because everyone is out for themselves . Especially when dealing with friends and family . I had to learn to separate friendship and music . The best decision I’ve made besides consultation fees to ensure that whoever is tapping in with me is serious about their business .
