We recently connected with Brandon Wright and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Yes, I am significantly happier as a small business owner than I was working for other people/companies. The stress, frustration and angst of wondering each day, where is my next dollar/meal going to come from and how will I pay my workers or accomplish future goals, plagues me. It is a daily struggle. There are absolutely times I want to give up and just go work a “regular” job…..But then I stop and remember where I came from and that what I am currently doing, is far more fulfilling than anything I’ve ever done. The best part of everything I do, is that I can say with pride….”I did it.” I take pride in my work and the idea that I’m helping others but most importantly, that it all belongs to me and is reliant on me putting in the effort to make it all come together. During Covid, everything stopped. I went to work for a distillery, making hand sanitizer and then I got a job shucking car parts at a junk yard….I love to work. I love a sense of accomplishment…but for me, doing it for some big boss’s benefit, is not the way. I understand now, more than ever, how important it is for me to get up daily and put in work….for myself and my crew.

Brandon , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have played in bands since I was 13 years old. I’ve been a musician and traveled the United States with touring bands. After much of that, I became fascinated with sound engineering and show production. The elements that make a show, work, make me get excited and I truly thrive off of the energy of seeing crowds of people enjoy themselves. Once I returned from touring, I dabbled in DJing in some local clubs and began to expand my catalog as a wedding DJ. Eventually I took the leap and invested in some gear, so that I could have my own PA system and equipment, necessary to provide clients with a variety of services from, weddings to private corporate events or band events and festivals. We also do comedy and karaoke….essentially anything to do with entertainment, we can provide. I’m very proud of the fact that all of these things could come together to make my passion into a career. I don’t really believe that what I’m doing is all that unique. There are a ton of DJ’s and musicians and sound guys….But I think I stand out because i do all of the things. I’m a one stop shop, if you will.
Our biggest goal at this time is to continue to grow and eventually expand into the national realm of booking and show production. One day at a time…..We will never forget, though, that locals are everything.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Definitely being a local musician. My network connections with venues, sound crews, bar staff and other musicians (local, regional and national) all helped build my reputation within the area. Having the ability to know who key players are within the industry and in all departments, is an epic advantage. It has helped me connect with and stay fluid within an industry that is constantly changing and moving.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Honestly, social media. The various groups that are connected to weddings, bands and nightlife, are constantly filled with requests for anyone providing what we provide. It’s a huge lake to fish in and clients are always available.
