We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Katherine Cardona a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Katherine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, let’s take a stroll on memory lane, back to when you were an apprentice or intern. What’s a memorable story from that time that you can share with us?
Hello my name is Katherine Cardona I’m 28 years old and I’m Born and Raised in South Central but I am also from El Salvador 🇸🇻 i love my country!!!!!
My family always been involved in music so it actually been a big part of my life so I started being more involved in my cousin and friends music back in 2009. Also I always been into graphic designing and I managed to incorporate music and graphic design together. I started getting music shows in 2012 with Young Baca Productions and I would find artist to perform and promote all events. After working with Young Baca I got inspired to create something big and be able to be help any artist I come across like helping them network, get shows, promotion, and creating flyers or album covers. I got to meet amazing artists and people that are just amazing, talented and very inspirational. I actually still have them in my life and we still work together when we are able to so I do want to say I’m proud of them such as McRome, Stuccy, Cvddy, Toro8, RoyalB, 94Mel$, Eddie SCLA, Robraccs and more artist. I actually met my fiancé at a bar which I had artist performing that night and he is an artist as-well and he has been a blessing in my life. Together we have built a platform for artist and vendors to come together. We created a monthly show called DREAMFEST and it has been so great. I actually do the flyers for this event I set everything up well not the electrical stuff but I do the tables etc. Being able to be a part of this big music movement has inspired me to be a leader for those who don’t know how to go about it and also we have a music studio called the Mamba Room at The House of Dreams and we also have an amazing producer his name is Afellah he has to do a lot behind the scenes being involved and helping us create something amazing and he is so talented so special and I hope whoever is reading be able to be apart of this. I actually took all this time to learn to record artist when the engineer can’t and developed and ear for all music types to be able to re-re-record the artist or make some minor changes. The House of Dreams It’s actually where we throw our music event and we actually rent the lot for other events. This has been a big impact in my life it has made me feel happy and motivate me to keep going and be a platform for all type of artist and vendors. Hope I get to meet many more upcoming artists and become a big part of the music community here in Los Angeles.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well I am in the entertainment business so I am able to provide services such as studio time, events, I rent our slot for any event you may have, album covers, flyers, production
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Networking has been a big part in this business because meeting people gives you an advantage to be introduced to others that are in the same business such as being an artist, promoter, vendors etc. It has been a blessing being able to talk and socialize with others and I encourage everyone to network
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Lessons I learned is to really becareful who you bring into your business because not everyone has a pure heart as you and like helping others. I don’t want to get so involved and say names but i dealt with a person who was mooching off me and taking all my connections for themselves and God always has my back so I just know God has been there and showed everyone’s true colors and because of that I always like to meet and talk so I can vibe with the person you know read them.
