We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Habibi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Habibi below.
Habibi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Making music and just overall creating was something I always did. I used to write stories and ideas constantly when I was younger. It usually didn’t matter what I wrote, I just loved telling stories and bringing that idea into the real world. I think due to that, my passion for just being creative began to grow. Yet, it wasn’t until I applied my ideas to piano keys or just overall instrumentals is really where I found that click. From there I was just going.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started getting into music back in high school when me and my friend just wanted to create something for our friends to listen to. Then that expanded, to what I think, a more serious question of should we take this seriously and give it a shot? I believe for every creative individual it’s the same situation of whether or not to take that jump. Personally I took the leap of faith, and I’m enjoying the journey more than everything right now. Since then I created multiple songs that a lot of people enjoy and simultaneously working on side projects as well other than music. I feel liberated, especially since I get to create on a day-to-day basis, which is great. I feel like the brand of Habibi is so much larger than what it was before, and seeing that growth as an individual, and as an artist who is an independent business at the same time it’s surreal .
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think the overall goal and mission for my creative journey right now is to see how large I can make these ideas. Yet, not only that but how far can I go personally? I’m a fond believer in making the impossible possible. Is it a challenging endeavor, but I want to push myself and see how great we can make things.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I believe the most rewarding part of being an artist or creative, is bringing those ideas from your mind, soul, or wherever you generate your creativity, and putting that out there in the world, into a shared space There is a level of vulnerability and a level of transcendence that goes into this. When you put something out there and you see how people react to it and also how you react to it in that same moment, that’s truly something different.
