We were lucky to catch up with Simone Feroci recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Simone, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always looked at music as a profession rather than just an hobby: unfortunately where I come from such choices are discouraged, so I’ve been judged a lot because of this choice, but I was never meant for a sedentary life, and music took me in so many different countries, so I never regretted pursuing this path!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started very young, at 7 I was singing in my hometown’s city choir, then I embraced the bass guitar at 11 (thanks to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s bass player, Flea) and I never let it go. From there to playing with bands, touring Europe, recording at the Abbey Road Studios, playing in big venues such as palladiums and stadiums to music production.
At the age of 36 I work as a session bass player and co producer, composer and arranger for other people’s music. I’d say I have an ironclad work ethic and I don’t stop until both me and my client are happy with the result: this might be what makes me stand out.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I always strive for the best and never settle for less. Because of my work ethic I got to work with some high end musicians in very important recording studios, which led to some sort of professional growth.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
You might say being a creative is like speaking a different language: we get to communicate with our art, and it’s extremely rewarding when people get touched by it. It means our mission is accomplished!
