We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Orelus recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think as long as you set your mind to a certain goal that you want to achieve that’s all it takes to be successful. I don’t believe success has anything to do with earning materialistic items but having a purpose for a goal with anything in your life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Kimberly. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I am currently the fashion designer of Protect My Flesh, a clothing brand that specializes in premium streetwear solutions. I have been involved in the streetwear industry since 2016 and started off by selling tie dye shirts, customized graphic t-shirts, and tailored jeans. Once I realized how much of a passion I had for fashion, especially streetwear I knew it was time for me to create a brand of my own. Protect my flesh consists of different forms of streetwear that is unisex. My drive and the products that are created sets me apart from any designer in this industry, as for the designs each one has a story of its own. If there’s anything I’m proud of it would have to be how much support I have gotten. .
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I believe the most effective strategy for growling clientele is understanding who is in your target audience. Once you know the audience you are trying to attract you can go by it a certain way. For example if a business owner’s target audience enjoys wearing hoodies It’s possibly best to put a type of deal such as a sale on most of the hoodies to get the target audience’s attention.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
A video that has significantly impacted my entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy would have to be Nipsey Hussle’s Journey of opening a store in the middle of his hood in crenshaw. There has been many times when I felt like giving up and or was fearful but listening to Nipsey Hussle speaking on wisdom and giving a whole new meaning to the word “Marathon” and making me realize I’m the best teacher in my life due to my experience has put my mind in a different perspective.
