Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jason Santiago. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jason, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As far as I can remember, I wanted to be an entertainer. I was the kid at my parents get togethers that showed off and performed for my aunts me uncles. My cousin, who has since passed got into comedy, and he made me promise him that I would at least try it. Back then I didn’t have the intestinal fortitude, but when he passed, I made sure to keep my promise to him.
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a New York native born in the Bronx, NY, but am now based out of Phoenix, AZ. I’ve been on my comedy journey for 6 years, I take my craft very seriously , and I have worked hard to understand the business side to this grind, and have applied my sales and marketing background which has been very instrumental with getting some amazing opportunities.
I have had the honor to work with some amazing talented comedians which have helped me further my development..
Joey Medina, one of the original Latin Kings of Comedy, Jack Assadourian Jr., Nick Guerra, Martin Moreno, Julio Gonzales, are just a few of the mentors that I’ve had the honor to both work and learn from.
I’m a brand ambassador for two companies, Popl and Live Bearded. Ive also worked tirelessly on increasing my social media presence, and currently have over 10.3K followers.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Comedy has been an amazing journey for me. The most rewarding aspect of comedy is having the ability to turn someone’s bad day into a good day. Make a sad person laugh, and even if it’s for a moment, help them forget about their problems
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Consistency is key when it comes to building your social media presence. It’s an everyday job that requires time management. Do your research., try different things that will capture someone’s attention. Learn which days/times are best to post. Without being consistent with this, it will become very hard and frustrating. Remember, it takes time but you will get there if you have something that followers will want to tune in for.
