Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Juan Cosme. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Juan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
I would say separation and consistency. Being in the entertainment industry we have to constantly separate our business model from similar businesses and be consistent in our offerings across the range of customers we appeal to. We have to think cutting edge and simplicity often to find the perfect balance in our business model.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always been the hustler and life of the party guy in my circle. I have always loved celebrating and creating memories for everyone around me. While attending NCA&TSU I meet my wife Amber and she use to work my nightlife events in college. As we grew older we distanced ourselves from the nightlife and began doing more family style entertainment where we created our COSTOONZ business. We grew this mascot and live princess business to 26 mascots and 13 lives princess where we did 10-15 parties per weekend at our peak. We opened a small venue called The Kidz Cave a few years into the business and it was a huge success. As we had more and more parties we stared to realize the whole family would attend these events from ages 1-55. So we started to realize we just couldn’t entire just the kids we needed to focus on the whole family. During this time I had jumped back into the nightlife scene and meet my current business partner Andrew Covington who business lawyer and graduate of ELON LAW. We spent time separating our nightlife and concert business for a few years and had thoughts of a more residual business model. Our main focus was to combine our networks in entertainment into one business model to create a unique and one of a kind experience. So we combine our kids cave concept with our nightlife blend. This is how Ready Up Game Lounge was created. Through the years myself and my wife and business partner constantly thought of different niche services that would attract the family as a whole and individually as well. So be embarked on a business based off first time memories for services that weren’t be offered much if at all in the entertainment industry. It’s been history from the day we opened. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
With our background in business and customer service we pride ourselves on professionalism and consistency. We all have customer first attitudes and work to make sure their experiences are unique and memorable from the first of last visit. We are very family oriented and have always treated our customers like family which means a lot these days.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Through the years we had to focus on balance to accomplish all our goals. Time management and sacrifice played huge roles in how we moved and when. We started off traveling and doing parties in venues and customers homes working on the weekends. Then worked towards a small 1,800sqft venue open 3 days a week. We grew the idea and business model to a 16,000sqft venue opening 4 days a week to start. Now we are open 7 days a week and trending upwards. We plan on adding more capital goods and service to our model and potentially franchising in the near future.
