We were lucky to catch up with KeTohn Paul recently and have shared our conversation below.
KeTohn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When it comes to successful people there are certain characteristics and behaviors they have in common.
Consistency , Dedication, Tenacity, Courage, Elevation, and Acceptance.
That is what it takes to be successful.
Each time I succeed at surpassing a goal I look back at my behaviors to remember how I got there.
I am a Small Business Owner. I am not afraid to say , because I understand the term “Small Business” relates to the amount of employees the business has.
It does not equate to the HEART or PASSION of the business.
With that statement , I would like to say I did not have a 1.4 Million Dollar Marketing Team. I had to study, plan , and execute to acheive the exposure and clients that I have achieved today.
By keeping a strong mindset and executing my plans, BOSSBABEBLOG.COM Reached over 25k Facebook/Instagram Users on average in less than a month! We also reached our blog exposure goal by 150%!
Website conversion is hanging at a 50% that’s (0.5 Website conversion! ) CRAZY HIGH
How did I get here with less than 1k followers on Facebook and less than 200 followers on IG and NO Initial Marketing Team?
Let’s talk about it.
Consistency – Even on days when I did not SEE the final results, I STILL posted consistently and stuck to my marketing plan. No matter what I FELT, I stayed consistent. You can’t say something never worked if you never executed it consistently and followed through TILL THE END.
Dedication – The loyalty I have to my business is OUTTA THIS WORLD! Every conversation, every meeting, every networking event, every interview , every class , every study session, is dedicated to the elevation of my business.
Tenacity – Nothing is stopping. If I fall , I get back up and brush off the dirt! No excuses, no complaining, no self pity , I see THE PRIZE and my mindset is not “IF” I get it , but “WHEN” I get it. Simple.
Courage – When I was uncomfortable putting myself out there , I still pushed myself to stand up and represent my business. So if that means going live, conducting a podcast, being interviewed, I was DOING IT. Now discomfort is NOTHING to me. I don’t care about being uncomfortable, I care about being successful. So even when I wasn’t perfect I still had the courage to start! You don’t need to be FEARLESS, you just need the COURAGE to overcome your fears!
Elevation – Growth is required in every area of my life. Business is on that list. So I am always working on ways to elevate my business, my mindset, my heart, and my character.
Acceptance – Even on days when I had a loss, I had to ACCEPT the wins too! I had a light bulb turn on and I said to myself “DUH”!!! You can’t beat yourself up when you lose, and then BARELY acknowledge yourself when you win KeTohn!” Success is a balance of acknowledging our failures and celebrating our wins! Our wins ARE our failures, because we learn how to be better! Accept that you DO have wins and celebrate each level of success in your journey.
Success looks different to everyone, depending on their dreams.
However, if you can’t accept success when it happens to you, because you are so focused on the negative, then you will never truly FEEL successful in YOUR mind.
Have the COURAGE to pursue ELEVATION with TENACITY, CONSISTENCY, DEDICATION, and ACCEPTANCE of your achievements!

KeTohn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is KeTohn ( Keh-ton)
I am so many things! Here are a few of the titles in life I go by:
A CEO , Business Promotion Specialist , Business Elevation Specialist, Small Business Loyalist , Business Mentor, Business Coach , A Sister to wonderful siblings , A Daughter to an amazing mother, and most importantly a leader.
I started selling at the age of 11 or 12 (Officially) haha! My mother had a BOSS BABY from the womb so she started teaching me business acumen as early as she could!
At the age of 16 I started my first business selling art, jewelry, and bows.
By the age 20 I would have my first retail store and become a store manager for a few very successful retail brands.
By the age of 22 I would become the training and traveling manager for another popular retail brand.
By the age of 23 I became a District Staffing Recruiter for a work from agency.
By the age 24 I started my own businesses!
Now at the age of 26 I have 4 Small Businesses, over 10 Small Business Communities on Facebook , and now host events for Small Business Owners!
The brand that I am promoting today is BOSSBABEBLOG.COM , a Small Business Directory dedicated to connecting Small Business Shoppers with Small Businesses in the U.S !
We provide Business Promotion Memberships, Shopping Memberships, and Small Business Events!
We have a blog, podcast, magazine, Live Facebook Selling Show and YouTube show where we promote our directory members!
As the CEO , I am most proud of the sales, reviews, and followers I have been able to generate for the Small Businesses in my directory!
When I see a shopper leave a review on a business they found in my directory I do the HAPPY DANCE!
What I would like my future clients to know is that we are more than your average Small Business Directory!
We are a community of individuals who shop, promote, and support Small Businesses in the U.S.
By joining the directory, you are not JUST a member, you are family!
Any advice for managing a team?
Give great benefits
TRUST your team to do what you hired them for OR hire someone you trust (Micro managing is not the way)
Pay people what they deserve ( When you pay people GREAT they do GREAT work! )
Send them home on time ( An overworked employee is a future resigned employee. )
Let them work remotely if possible ( Simplify everything as much as you can)
Make them feel like it’s a PLEASURE to work for your business ( When people are treated right they SOAR)
Don’t make them choose between their LIFE and your business ( Show them you care while still making things happen!)
Be honest about what you plan to offer and be honest about what you plan to provide

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the unhealthy work culture of No Work-life Balance,
There would be days when I worked for other leaders and they would encourage workers to come in on their off days for non emergency information that could have been shared JUST as effectively with a better schedule.
These brands would often promise a work life balance, but not deliver, due to poor scheduling of company initiatives and task.
I don’t over work my team.
I encourage them to take their weekend off and come back refreshed! WORK HARD PLAY HARD!
By teaching my teams to respect their off days, I have earned their respect and they deliver ABOVE average results EVERY TIME.
They would NEVER take me for granted and I will NEVER disrespect the importance of their work life balance.
If they want to pick up more hours/responsibility that is their choice, but they don’t have to choose between work and living their life.
