We recently connected with Candi Eduardo and have shared our conversation below.
Candi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
A lot of people don’t truly understand what success really means. I thought success was being able to make a certain amount of money well I was wrong. Success for me is mastering being able to withstand anything that comes against it. I heard someone speak on how things are lead my the body for me the body of christ his spirit is in all of us. So, in order for any business to survive the body of the building the spirit has to be alive and be the center of your business. So, what that means is you are responsible for bringing life to your business and sustaining it. Success is life, peace and joy that you bring to the people that you serve.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Candi Eduardo and I ran a nonprofit organization for the past 8 years and I own Candi Eduardo Speaks ( Empowerment Coaching). My journey started when the lord told me that I needed to tell my story about domestic violence. I am a survivor of domestic violence and I am a huge advocate. I love serving the community that is where my heart is. It wasn’t easy to get a nonprofit up and running. I was so determined to put myself a position to start serving clients. I added programs, feed the homeless, events all that you can think of. So, then one day I said I wanted to reach more people because, a lot of people don’t like the fact that they are asking for help from a nonprofit. I feel like its this stigma against nonprofits. So, I started a coaching business to help other people who need advice from things like business, marriage, relationships and personal development. Again my heart is for the people the community. Starting a business isn’t easy but no matter what type of business you are starting you have to be consistent. I learned the hard way. Also, another key factor to a thriving business is having a mentor who can help you to shift when you need to or have a better understanding of the market. I also run a clothing business called La’Shea Creative Collection its all about spiritual growth. Some people love to be inspired. The life has been for the past 2 years we need somethings to remind us that God is with us and he will never leave us nor forsake us. I don’t know if that is allowed but, believe it or not there are people to depend on him daily to get through life. I am one of them. At the end of the day I love people, I am passionate about my work and I am a problem solver. I am proud of how far I have come. We grow with our business with the ups and downs along the way. I am grateful for growth. What sets me apart is my honesty and if you were to get in front of me you will be amazed about how much I know you. I listen very well. I hope I didn’t forget anything lol
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot during covid for my nonprofit. I did not like that it was so hard to get funding and still be able to serve clients. I had to find ways to keep things going and resources that would help with that. So, we went online for therapy. It was rough but, we were able to manage for a while.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to learn to trust people. I have learned a long time ago that not everybody is your friend. My heart is so pure i am always giving people opportunities and the one thing is I never expect nothing in return because that is who I am . But, I had to learn to tap into my discernment more because not everybody is out here to help you grow.
