We recently connected with Stille Skygger and have shared our conversation below.

Stille, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

I am an orphan girl from a middle-class family. You can more or less guess what kind of difficulties I faced from the very beginning of my educational life. I believe that I represent every girl who was born into a not very advantageous position and is trying to get somewhere by their own means. I have continued this mission in every job I have signed so far, and I am still continuing to do so. If I have a legacy to leave to the world, it’s that the girls out there with big dreams need to have the belief and courage that they reach to a place they want in the future. You can do anything if you set your mind to a goal. As long as you give the necessary effort and courage and never lose heart.

Stille, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a multiple award-winning professional Artist and an Art Director with extensive experience in the contemporary art industry. I have been working with a variety of art galleries and art companies since 2015. I’m also a renowned artist and my works have been exhibited in various galleries and published in Art Books, Art Magazines and Zines.

Until 2020, I took on different roles in many different art projects, art institutions and festivals. But as someone with an artist background, seeing what an artist needs and what more needs to be done for them, but not being able to do it, pushed me into start up a place with my own presumptions. As I mentioned at the beginning, it was the first period of the pandemic and we had opened a physical place. We didn’t want it to be a closed place during the pandemic, so we turned the gallery into a digital one and delivered our projects, such as exhibitions, festivals and magazines to all art lovers and artists from all over the world in the digital space.

Now we’re running an ever-growing brand, Marvelous Art Gallery, supporting Artists to gain more recognition by offering different opportunities to them, ranging from digital exhibitions to publishing their works in printed media. We’re now working on new projects to support Artists to give them a platform where they can join a bigger network as well as a place where they can promote and sell their artworks globally without any restrictions.

Any advice for managing a team?

From my experiences, this kind of business relationship is a two-way street. A good employee should first be able to bring business-oriented, thoughtful and new rational ideas to the table. Also a good manager should work hard, listen to the ideas of their employees and be open to new ideas.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Since we are a business with a certain style, we go through certain art labels, artists and art lovers who reflect our style reach us in this way. The most important advice I can give is to create your own style and focus on that style.

Social media is a very powerful place and it is what we need most for visibility in the world we are in. Social media is a completely different world and we work with people who have been trained in the field. This gives us the opportunity to focus on our work more in the remaining time.
