We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffanie Daniel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company is Rashel Made It. It is a play on words and actually holds multiple meanings. To really understand the name you have to know a bit more about me. My full name is Tiffanie Rashel Daniel. I am originally from The Bronx, New York. I grew up in a single parent home with a younger sibling watching my mother take on the world, at this point in my life everyone called me Tiffanie. When I turned 18 after a brief period at St. John’s University I joined the Army where I’ve served for the last 17 years. So then private, now Chief Daniel is associated with my military service. My middle name is Rashel. My middle name represents all of the things that don’t apply to who people think Tiffanie is, or who people think Chief Daniel is. Rashel is the Artistic side of me, the calmness and the adventure all at the same time. No one has ever known me solely by Rashel so when I started the Company I knew she needed to take the lead. Rashel Made It both with her hands since I actually make our items, but also in life because the dream of most people where I’m from is merely to survive. To be able to not only survive but be successful in a craft that brings you peace and brings other joy is truly a blessing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tiffanie Daniel but most know me as Tiffanie Rashel these days. I originally began crafting as a summer Hobby back in 2000 while spending time with family in Connecticut. Just after getting my first job (at the ice cream counter of a diner) I used my first check to explore the isles of the local craft stores. My creative side has continued to grow from there, becoming what you see as Rashel Made It and the additional ventures I anticipate completing this year.
What sets us apart at Rashel Made It is our mission to help you give the gift of memories with our affordable and custom. items. We are able to take an idea from customer concept to amazing gift is a relatively short time with amazingly competitive prices. As a business owner and mom I am most proud of the lessons I am able to teach my children through the running of my business. They learn about planning and delegation, concept development, as well as budgeting and a plethora of other life lessons they may have missed out on if it were not for this amazing opportunity to teach them in this hands on environment.
The lessons my children learn behind the scenes are amazing in helping them grow their cognitive thinking skills. My favorite lessons for them however, are in their real life interactions with our customer base at our local in person events. Watching them confidently discuss our products, customization options, provide website referrals and close sales lets me know that they are well on their way to being the independent, confident, well mannered young adults I am raising them to be.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I was able to build a reputation within my market through continued education opportunities, networking with peers, and showing up for my audience consistently. I continued to hone my craft after launching my business through courses from leading industry experts to perfect my skills and validate my knowledge. I network with peers online through different social media groups where we discuss tips and tricks. This gave me the opportunity to show my knowledge and assist my peers at the same time while also receiving assistance in areas where I needed support.
Lastly, showing up for my audience consistently in my local market has paid dividends. I brand consistently at all of our events so our customers know exactly who we are and how to find us. Providing quality products and exceptionally fast services has also led to many referrals in our local market. Our email list is small but mighty and because we have built the necessary know, like and trust with our audience when I provide them information in the form of events, or promotional opportunities they always support.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For Rashel Made It our number one best source of new clients has always been word of mouth! There is something about the praise a satisfied customer gives your business that ignites a fire within their friends to come and support also. Regardless of if the sale is made online or in-person the level of attention to detail we provide to each order as well as the easy and options for customization always brings them back with at least one friend in tow.
When I’m excited about something I tell my friends about the amazing service or awesome item I just purchased because the experience of buying it was just as amazing as what I purchased. This is the same way our customer respond especially with our in person pop-up experience. Not many businesses have 13 year old experts on their products that can help you pick, customize, and purchase your item on the spot. Our clients love that my children are learning business skills and continue to support their growth through their patronage.
