We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Antoinnette Rainey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Antoinnette below.
Antoinnette , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses.
Family businesses keep America thriving. These family businesses service their local communities. Through this relationships are built, and money continues to circulate in the economy on micro and macro scales.
Antoinnette , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Los Angeles Native who’s always loved candles. I poured my first wax batch in 2019, and there was no looking back from there. The feeling to be able to create and have free artistic control over what I’m creating was exhilarating in itself. But to then be able to have my work put smiles on people’s faces was and still is priceless. Because Splash Candles is all about good vibes. So to see that my brand is constantly growing and receiving recognitions along the way makes the long days worth it all.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I would love to grow Splash Candles as a locally recognized brand, and then eventually a national one. I’ve taken advantage of the pop up shops in the Southern California region to help me do so. This allows for people to meet me, ask questions, smell my candles, and purchase. I know blindly purchasing a scent online can be scary, so having an opportunity in person to shop increases the likely hood of a sell for me. It also helps to grow my social media following because even if a client chooses not to purchase today, they’ll know exactly where to find me online when they are.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding your own dream is possible. I began funding Splash Candles with the extra money I had from my payroll check. I would buy the materials needed in small batches because, at first it was just a hobby for myself. As my business began to grow I began to use the capital I earned from sells to reinvest back into my business. Anything and everything is possible when you believe in yourself.
