We were lucky to catch up with Gabrielle Palmstrom recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Gabrielle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I love helping people and want everyone to succeed in their lives. I feel that in order to thrive in life that you need to be healthy and that starts with your physical health and overall wellbeing. I have worked in the fitness industry for over 18 years and I see how much physical fitness helps people in their everyday lives. Being active all my life, I know firsthand how important it is to stay active. Otherwise, our quality of life really does suffer. This is why I decided to create North Organics CBD. There is an all natural way to keep going and still be able to continue with physical activity, even with everyday aches, pains, anxiety, lack of sleep… the list goes on and on. My CBD products have helped SO MANY people in various ways to keep them going in their everyday lives. That’s what I am all about. I was slowed down in my earlier years due to a back injury and I don’t want anyone to feel the kind of defeat I felt in that moment. There is a way to keep living the life you want and there is a way to do that naturally without pumping yourself full of toxic medications!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m Gabrielle! I have always been an active person. If I’m not working then you can find me outside hiking a mountain, skiing a trail, or jumping off rocks into water! Being active has helped me stay healthy physically and mentally. I needed surgery on my back when I was a teenager due to a full herniation in my lower back. I remember wearing my softball jersey into my doctors office when he told me I couldn’t play sports anymore. I was devastated. I was in so much pain, but never thought for a moment that I would be told that I could never participate in sports every again. The pain I was in and the pain killers they had me on had me defeated. I went through with my surgery and worked hard to be able to get back into the physical activities I loved. I refused to listen to anyone who told me I could never be physically active again. Thank goodness I didn’t listen. I did away with the pain killers and got back into my sports. The pain was still there and I started taking over the counter medications everyday. This was not a good solution either. I was taking NSAIDS like they were vitamins. This wreaks havoc on your insides. I thought to myself “There must be a better way!” And, there was! I did my research and I discovered CBD. I started using topical cream on my back and it helped lessen my pain drastically. I was hooked. Working in the fitness industry, people confide in me and ask for advice often. One question that always came up was “What do you do for pain?” I started raving about CBD and how much it helped me, so everyone I spoke with gave it a try. It got to a point where I realized that I owed it to everyone to start my own CBD business and help as many people as possible. I am someone that a lot of people trust and I wanted to create a brand that everyone could trust as well.
I have helped clients with pain, anxiety, sleep, everyday wellness… the list goes on and on. I have even helped dogs with their joint pain and even anxiety! I honestly cannot believe how many people and pets I have helped over the years. The stories really do bring tears to my eyes. The CBD industry has become flooded with so many different brands and no one really knows which are reputable and which ones to trust. I set myself apart in a way that no other company does. I personally reach out and respond to every customer who has a question/concern. If you live close to me, I make it a point to hand deliver your product to your front door. I make personal connections with my customers. I only use premium CBD products and will never cut corners to reduce costs. My CBD is the real deal and so am I.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Over 6 months ago I was hospitalized for odd symptoms and I had zero clue what was going on. I was away from my daughter for the first time since she was born and I was feeling so low. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and was shocked by the diagnosis. I did not feel well after the treatment I underwent in the hospital and needed to take a leave of absence from my full time job in the fitness industry. This could’ve broken my company and I could’ve easily shutdown and gone back to work full time as a manager in the fitness studios I was already managing. But, I didn’t! I pressed on and dove even deeper into my company (from my couch) and was determined to increase sales and pivot my company in a way to be able to do that. I created products that my customers could relate to, but was not CBD. I created water bottles for my active lifestyle customers and I could not keep them in stock. The news picked it up and sales went through the roof. This was a time in my life where I honestly wanted to give up, but knew I couldn’t. I needed to keep going for myself and my daughter and I am so thankful I did. My company is doing better than ever!

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

I have my own site and I am so glad I do. I am in complete control and I don’t have a platform taking a percentage of my sales from my hard work. The CBD industry is a difficult industry with all the red flags the FDA places on it and I didn’t want the risk of being shutdown by a platform. There is nothing worse than losing everything because people are scared of being affiliated with CBD. Having my own platform gives me the control and sets my mind at ease that I’ll never get an email from a platform telling me that they shutdown my website! The only con is that I have to create everything from scratch, but I have an amazing team who helps me with that!
