We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Connor Reid Vinson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Connor Reid below.
Connor Reid, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is simple: I see it, I photograph it. Whether it’s still imagery or motion picture I want to capture everything I find interesting. If people see mundane, I want to see exciting. I know I can do this for myself, so I want to do it for my clients too. Help them bring stories to life, ya know.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
If you ask anyone in my family they’ll tell you I had a camera in my hands when I was probably eight or nine. Maybe before that, I can’t even remember. I started making my own video projects with Legos using stop-motion animation and screening them for my family and friends. Yeah, other kids were doing it, some better than me, but what was merely a phase for them turned into some sort of obsession for me. Now, here I am with more camera gear than I know what to do with.
If you do something you love, you never have to work or however that phrase goes. I have collaborated with many creatives and companies to produce some cool stuff. Most recently, I worked on a TV pilot with Kerri Kasem and Niko Price running around in the Everglades. Go figure! I have worked on sets with great people and I know no matter where I end up I will always have a camera in my hand.
Since starting my company, Vinson Media LLC, my goal has to work with clients and create cool stuff. Got a commercial idea? A music video? Grandpa retirement party? Give me a call and I will work with you to build something great. I have the gear and the experience to get it done.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Don’t be afraid to work your (beep) off. I came straight out of college and commuted to a warehouse job working more than forty hours a week to finance a good chunk of my gear. Sure, it was not the job I wanted, but it was absolutely one I needed to get where I am now. Don’t think that being a creative means you can’t take jobs that don’t interest you. They build character, work ethic, and motivate you to pursue what you really love.
That being said, you can get stuck in them. If you ever feel “stuck” or complacent, get out and do something new. I have my friend and collaborative partner, Phillip Wheeler, to thank for that advice.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Treat everyone as if they are your family. Treat them with respect. Always keep an open line of communication and if you screw up, apologize and work through it. The best businesses are the ones with great customer service. Apply their methods to your own business strategy.
You must be the ultimate professional. Regardless of your personal habits, you should be dressed clean and well-spoken. You must also be relatable to your clients and treat everyone with kindness.
