Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

The Purpose Unstoppable Collection came about when I was in Toastmasters International Club, a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.

I was preparing to present my second speech, since being in the club, about helping people pursue their purpose when faced with obstacles. For this speech, I was looking for a dramatic ending. So, I began to pray asking God for the words, and “Purpose Unstoppable” blurted out of my mouth while practicing my speech and pacing the floor in my bedroom. Afterwards, I said aloud, “That’s it!”

On the day I was to present my speech to the audience, I ended the speech with “Purpose Unstoppable,” the same way in which I practiced. And everybody went crazy, and I started laughing. After every speech, written feedback is provided voluntarily from all audience members. As I read all of the feedback, I realized God had given me something special.

I then went home, and I told my husband all about the speech and the feedback I received. On that very same day which was a Saturday, we began creating a design to place on two different colored t-shirts – black and hot pink.

After creating the design and printing them on the t-shirts, I shared it with family and friends and a few women in a women’s bible study group at my church. They all loved it and wanted a t-shirt.

I didn’t have a price to give them for purchase, so I said to them, “Give me a donation.” From there, I believe we had over 40 orders fulfilled.

Shortly after this, I started The Purpose Unstoppable Podcast which is currently no longer being recorded.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am Tiffany Hill. I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and I now reside in Atlanta, Georgia, with my husband and our three beautiful daughters. In addition to my primary role as a wife and mother, I am a speaker, author, and entrepreneur.

I started my brand, The Purpose Unstoppable Collection (PU) in 2018 with a podcast and two different colored t-shirts – black and hot pink – after being led by God to start speaking at Toastmasters International Club, a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.

However, before realizing I was a speaker, author, and brand owner, I was lost about my direction and purpose in life and frustrated with what the future held for me. I had a desire to know who I really was and what I was supposed to be doing because something inside of me was telling me there was something more to my life. During this time, I was working as an Early Childhood Director when everything began to change.

One day in December 2016, I had an encounter with God in my closet. After this encounter, I continued in a relationship with God, and He then began leading me to my purpose. I began speaking, building my brand, and writing my first book.

But there was a hesitation in my stepping out to fulfill my purpose. I realized I had to overcome a few obstacles – the fear of speaking, insecurity, and my past shame of being a teenage mom at the age of 16.

I feared speaking because there was a root of insecurity. I hated my voice due to my southern drawl. And to put the icing on the cake, there was the shame of my past staring me in the face.

Although these things attempted to stop me from fulfilling my purpose, I discovered I can never be stopped in my pursuit of purpose with God because my identity was always in Him.

And this is why the PU brand was created, to help inspire entrepreneurs like myself to push past obstacles that are attempting to stop them from getting to what God purposed for their life through inspirational apparel.

Whether it be life’s circumstances, something internal, or overcoming obstacles to reach a goal, we encourage you to be unstoppable in your pursuit of purpose with God.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source, thus far, for gaining new clients has been my consistency in engaging through social media, ads, newsletters, and being myself when delivering valuable content.

I’ve learned that I connect better with my audience when they know and can relate to the person behind the brand, along with storytelling. Every item in our store has a story and valuable content that can be used to help our customers be unstoppable in their pursuit of purpose with God when faced with any obstacle in life.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

Currently, we design and print our garments in-house. We located a few local vendors to provide us with t-shirts and materials in order to produce our products with the highest print quality for durability.

However, determining the right products to use came with lots of research. We had to test our products to ensure they held up to our quality standards. What helps us maintain our quality standards is having systems in place from the moment we retrieve products from the vendor to the moment products are out the door for shipping and handling. We learned how important quality control really is when issues would arise such as receiving t-shirts with strings, holes, and at times, receiving the wrong product.

Initially, I started with the help of my husband. We designed and printed by using the Cricut Explore Air with an iron that he purchased for me as a mother’s day gift before creating the PU brand. We have since moved to the Adobe Cloud and a heat press machine because this is a more efficient process that helps us produce a larger number of orders in a shorter amount of time.
