Katerina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business

One of the best stories to happen to me is my Vogue feature, I was featured in Vogue a couple times already. Our first feature was titled “Juicy Couture’s biggest Collector” I met the writer and let her know I’m a big rare Juicy Couture collector I had to submit my entire Juicy collection to Vogue, they wanted to do the story on me. This is an added bonus because Juicy Couture has been in my life 20+ years now, I’m in fashion, so it only makes sense I have a Fashion Feature in Vogue at some point, and this is just my entire world. The story couldn’t go to a better more deserving person, it was destiny. I was also featured in Vogue’s “Best Fashion Instagrams of the Week”. Being featured in Vogue made me powerful as a person and business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Growing up Fashion and Design was something I always loved and had a passion for. After going to College and getting a degree in Fashion Merchandising, Doing Visual Merchandising for a couple years, it was Fashion Styling that I wanted to do, and being in a Chicago at that time, there was not many “Fashion Stylist” jobs out there, so I decided it was time to start my own Fashion Consulting business. In addition I also started an online store called Sugar Sequin Vintage, which I style, rent, and handpick special finds and vintage pieces, and my jewelry line, which uses only vintage designer materials to produce one-of-a-kind pieces is available through Sugar Sequin Vintage. Katerina Styles, is a full-service fashion consulting agency that specializes in providing fashion advice, choosing and coordinating outfits for everyday life, showcasing and renting designer clothing and accessories, and styling magazine editorials, special events, and photoshoots. We work with men and women of all shapes and sizes, and budgets. What sets us apart is we work with our clients, and get to know them one on one, so we can help in the way they dress to feel the best version of themselves. I also own and operate Sugar Sequin Vintage, an online store through which I style, rent, and handpick special finds and vintage pieces. My jewelry line, which uses only vintage designer materials to produce one-of-a-kind pieces, is also available through Sugar Sequin Vintage.
I am very proud of how far my business has come, I am so proud of all my features, everyone of them means so much to me. Having your own business is a wave of emotions. I’ve learned if you work hard, there isn’t anything you can’t do if you want to.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

Never giving up is the key, if one door closes, another will open, you just have to keep on being motivated and Never Give Up! That is the key to success. That is where I’m at today, Fashion is my my full time job. I’m always doing something in Fashion related whether it is fashion consulting, personal shopping for a client, fashion corresponding, or making jewelry, etc.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

I don’t have any specific book, but I am always reading fashion magazines or style books just because I enjoy it, I love doing research, so I would just suggest to read upon the subject of your passion, because their is always something new to learn every day.
