We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tonio Armani a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tonio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
Yes, because I feel like the industry wants to put you in a box. But The way I feel and what inspires me to make music is more like an open box. It comes from what I experience in life. At times I can be happy, I could be sad, I could be joyful, I could be in pain, or thinking about God. I even talk about hate or being angry. These are emotions that you have in your life every day. I put my emotions on paper and put it in Music to share it with other people who can relate. Sometimes people take issue with the fact that I make music that is in more than one genre. You have the choice to like any genre of music that I’ve made, but I promise, if you only listen to one, you’ll be missing out. I feel the same emotions everyone else does. I’m a regular person. I just put my emotions on records to help other people dealing with the same things. My success has shown me to stay true to myself, stay true to what is real, and God handle the rest.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name Tonio Armani. I was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, where I spent the majority of my life. After serving in the Army for 10 years, I decided to pursue my passion for music. I’ve always been drawn to music that promotes positivity and love, which is why I fell in love with Rhythm, Blues, and Soul genres. To me, music is the universal language that connects all people, which is why I pour my heart and soul into every lyric and melody I create. I firmly believe that music has the power to heal, inspire, and transform lives. I’m excited to share my music with the world and spread a message of love and positivity through my art. It’s one of the most powerful things I believe I have as a person, is this voice.
You can check out my music on any music streaming platform. Be sure to listen to my hit song called ‘All Night Long’. You wont regret it! Follow me on TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube @iamtonioarmani
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson unlearn is you have to give music time to breathe. I put out a lot of music In a short amount of time. My catalogue is huge. I just wanted to make as much music, as fast as I could thinking that as long as I worked hard, everything is going to work out. This is true in one sense but you have to let your projects mature. If you’re putting out music too quickly, nothing has a chance to really take off. Once I got my business together and learned that I need to push a project for one to two years that’s when I started seeing changes.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
What’s the most important to me is that I am finally able to be heard, and knowing there are other people out there who feel the same way that I feel they and can relate to my music. This is one of the most rewarding feelings about being an artist. My music is literally touching people, saving lives, inspiring people, promoting love, and celebrating happiness.
