Nakisha, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?

My parents NEVER gave up. No matter what the situation was, they always made a way for themselves and for the family. And that’s something that I’m learning now. I can’t give up. I have so much going for myself and I have to always remember the only person stopping my dreams and goals will be me and I’m not going let that happened. See the hard work of parents pay off just makes me want to go 10x harder. Maybe that’s why I’m always coming up with new ideas every 2 weeks lol.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

So much has happened since my last interview! Growth really played a major part of it. A major shift happened and honestly I’m happy it did. I had to get serious about my future. So one night I really asked myself this question “Am I satisfied with everything I have going on?” and the answer was no at that time. So I did a major rebrand for myself and now I have a skincare company (Jesuis skin), I’m in school to become an aesthetician so I can further that career. I founded my own ministry (This is us). And I took my lifestyle influencer Niche seriously too. I’ve worked with so many brands and it’s been such a fun journey. I thank God for my woman empowerment organization because that’s what exposed me to this lifestyle. I’m so proud of the impact that me and my brands has done for my community and followers. To know that I inspire people to go after what they want in life makes me so proud. Hard work pays off.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

My side hustle of just selling skincare products really turned out to my career. Back in 2020 when I started my company I was just doing it for fun. Later on I realized how much I do love skincare! So I did some research and that’s when I decided on becoming a aesthetician. I can sell the products and provide the services. When I was selling my products I seen how much my customers loved the products and they were always ask for a restock. So I was like wow I can really make something out of this. Everyone wants to take care of their skin. Going to school was the best decision I made for myself and for my company.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Being myself really helped me build my reputation as “JesuisNakisha”. I never thought I was better than anyone in my market because at the end of the day it’s collaboration over competition. People get tired of everyone doing the same thing and acting the same way. You want to stand out so you can attract the right people and in order to do that you have to be yourself and there’s only one of you.
