We recently connected with Michelle Foye and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The business was launched in honor of the Founder’s son, Demonde “DJ” Dicks, Jr., who was killed. Since inception in 2018, more than 3000 drug screens have been performed. Precis Screening can be found on all social media platforms and receive a myriad of customers.
Precis Screening is a Drug Screening Center and CLIA Waived Clinical Laboratory with a mission to strengthen communities by increasing public health. We provide employment services to include drug screens, fingerprinting, background verification, and occupational health for both regulated industries such as the Department of Transportation and non-regulated industries such as private and public entities. We encourage second programming for employees found to be under the influence of substances or alcohol. We are notable to our social platform clients for providing business launch services, specifically to Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Phlebotomists, Dispatchers and Entry – Level Entrepreneurs.
Michelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 22-year Corporate Technology veteran whose career began with the Gas Company here in Atlanta just before natural gas deregulated. I began as an Office Assistant and moved lattice style into mission-critical senior leadership roles within organizations and across industries such as SunTrust Banks, Cap Gemini, Accenture, Cox and healthcare giants such as Morehouse School of Medicine, Piedmont and Grady. I leveraged my corporate knowledge gained over the years to start my own business in Drug Testing and Waived Laboratory Testing. Drug Testing was chosen due to the oldest son’s murder, which was drug and gang violence related.
Nearly two years into the business, I became acquainted with Candace Holyfield, a Social Media Marketing Disruptor and Business Credit Guru. Working with Candace, I was able to establish a consulting arm that has assisted more than 300 Entrepreneurs in establishing their own Drug Test Centers, Clia Waived Clinical Laboratories and/or Transportation Administration businesses. The result positioned me to follow my dream of owning a Day Spa, and thus Sanai Couture Beauty was born. Further, my husband and I were able to launch Precis Worldwide Transportation as a transportation industry carrier.
The road has certainly not been smooth, but I haven’t expected it to be. I believe that businesses thrive and are sustainable by responding accordingly to opportunities. Opportunities are real problems that need resolution. Specifically, some struggles that I have witnessed are the proverbial sexism, racism but they also have everything to do with knowledge. Every business will struggle with resources at some point, whether it is financial, human or otherwise. The answer to the problem is knowledge. I have been fortunate to attend events where I meet someone that leads to another someone. These meetings always create an opportunity for me to gain more knowledge to become better as an entrepreneur. I want to recognize John Hope Bryant and Operations Hope for their Entrepreneurship program that I attended in June 2019.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would have to say Marketing via Social Media.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Treat your team as if they were family. Let them know that their roll in your company/business is significant. Always be fair and balanced in your decision making strategies.o
