Coco, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

My mission is to assist many in their bodily healing with herbs, as with proper use and self dedication, can extend one’s lifespan. We often don’t associate plants with health, we associate them with beauty or addition. If we could shift our perspective of how beautiful a flower looks in our house to not only the beauty it offers externally but internally, we’d view all plants as gold.

Coco, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Coco and i am the Founder of Earth’s Cabinet & Earth’s Pot. I am a Plant Doctor, Phytotherapist, Master Clinical Herbalist and Master Clinical Aromatherapist. I create products such as herbal teas, tinctures, tonics, herbal skincare and supplements. Through my products, I target the organs and organ systems individually and collectively to bring the body back to homeostasis.

It all began at the age of 3 when I was a very sick child. The feeling of overwhelm due to asthma so bad that I needed a nebulizer and a hospital visit every 2 weeks. The overwhelm of capillaries constantly breaking within my nose and sinus cavity, the overwhelm of having eczema from scalp to toes. How frustrating is all of this for such a little and still developing body? This was my life. Constant nose bleeds, in level 5 of allergies which was the highest, constant itchy, dry and sometimes raw and oozing skin.

My mother couldn’t take it anymore and never really used prescriptions unless it were dire. My mother decided to do something about it. Being from the West Indies, using natural, earth created ingredients like, flowers, herbs, roots, fruits, vegetables and sun were a go to. From making teas, fresh juices, poultices and tonics, along with my acclimation to the these flavors at such a young age, she was successful.

At the age of 4, I was ingesting extremely bitter beverages to clean my blood and nourish my liver without sweetener, with ease. I was drinking fresh juices that would cater to my Integumentary System, Respiratory System and  other organ systems. Overtime, my mother had healed me of symptoms and ailments with just plants and herbs.

Looking at these experiences as a blessing and gift in disguise, I knew that I wanted to heal others the way in which my mother healed me. I decided to go to school to be a nurse at first, as I initially wanted to work my way up to being an MD. Throughout my learning and really becoming hands on within clinicals, I realized that I was going against my spirit. I decided to leave and pursue an education in Phytotherapy.

Now this, this is where I really felt my spirit was thriving. There was such a major lesson in this; Never question your spirit. I just knew that I was doing the right thing, I was so excited to know that I was truly walking in my purpose. I was also grateful to know that I would be able to give the healing gifts my mother gave me as an offering to others.

I’ve assisted my clients in healing issues within the Cardiovascular System, Renal System, Respiratory System, Digestive System, issues within GI, pancreatic concerns, Lymphatic System, concerns with the Liver, the Blood, Central Nervous System etc.

Witnessing clients from the beginning of their healing journey to their continued abundance fills my spirit with so much joy. Seeing them at their lowest and most vulnerable state to being able to witness them harness their strength within, build discipline, faith and see progress is peace. This confirms that I am truly walking in my purpose and doing God’s work!

I wouldn’t say that a certain thing sets me apart from others as God has gifted everyone with something special, even if it’s within the same line of work. We as individual spirits experiencing through these physical vessels are on our own journey to complete our own worldly mission, we are all placed here for a reason. It is how you use your gifts that truly set the bar!

What I am most proud of are my clients, even the ones i haven’t met yet! It’s always a bit uncomfortable to step into something new, something that requires an alteration in one’s lifestyle. I want people to know how diligently and tirelessly the vessel works to keep our spirit in it in order to experience this wonder called life. It is only but an experience, yet, it is the grand experience. How are we to experience life fully if our bodies are decreasing in function? How are we to experience life if we wait until the last minute? How are we to truly experience all the jewels of earth if we don’t use what it has already provided us for health.

We already have everything we need!

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

Wow! This was such a time for me. If hustle had a picture in the dictionary at this time, it would be my face lol. I had been working at a large makeup company for 9 years, I had moved up a lot within that time and had become a facilitator, teaching classes. There had been a moment in my time there where I started to really focus on ingredients, especially since I had been going to school and work full time. Understanding the damage that these ingredients have on the body overtime, I realized that I needed to make an exit plan.

I got my schedule changed to a 5am-1pm with weekends off and this is where my plan started. Knowing that I was skilled in makeup, I started using the weekends to travel to every gentleman’s night club to see if there was a makeup artist position open. They always say, within those one million no’s there will be a yes, so said, so done. I am now working at my 5am-1pm job and working my new 5pm-1am job! Sleep? There was no such thing as sleep, just a shower and a cat nap.

Working my way up in the gentleman’s club, I get promoted to hair and makeup and I am still working 2 jobs. I am strategic in how I manage funds as this was a part of my exit plan for my first job. After a year, I get 2 more promotions within the gentleman’s club, I am now a Housemom and I am managing the money that comes in and out of the club.

At this time, I took a moment to truly sit down and take some time to have a conversation with God. Within this conversation, I knew that it was time to execute. I left my first job and that gave me some more room to rest. When one gets rest, they get clarity. I worked at the club for another year and by that time, I was able to fully fund the start of my business.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of clients has been word of mouth and my logo. This is something that I’ve always strived for. It’s important to have your company known by recognition and recommendation! To see/know that my logo on someone’s fridge means that it’ll always be visible to the mind, not just the eyes. To know that people have been sent my way by recommendation of other wellness spaces and/or friends is peace. It continues to confirm that I am doing the right thing by walking in my purpose.
