Monique, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Abnormel Apparel LLC was formed on 9/19/20, during the pandemic, when I lost my school district behavior facilitator job while finishing my internship for my Master’s as a Clinical Counselor. Having a client caseload during internship, I saw the need for clients to express themselves regardless of the challenges they were experiencing. Abnormel Apparel LLC is a brand specializing in men’s denim and designs that inspire, embrace uniqueness and bring mental health awareness to the forefront.

Monique, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Monique Johnson. I am the founder and CEO of Abnormel Apparel LLC. I was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Abnormel Apparel LLC’s pop-up shop is located at Alvernia University in downtown Reading, Pa. Abnormel Apparel LLC’s online store is www.abnormelapparel.com and provides personal styling services.

I hold events to inspire and motivate our community. This year we are leading in organizing Reading’s First Annual Juneteenth Parade and Festival. We were also awarded serval times for making a difference in the community. I am most proud of encouraging people to express who they are through their clothing and making a positive impact in my community.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Hands down, social media! Social media allowed me to reach customers outside my hometown and manufacturers.
