Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaMeika Draughn . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi LaMeika , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I want everybody to feel included. The purpose of my brand is so that everybody can feel included without it being complicated I love educating and being a brand that represents something for everyone. I want people to feel beautiful on the inside and out, which is why I became a licensed aesthetician in the first place.

LaMeika , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been practicing Make Up Artistry for 10+ years, and professionally 6 years; during that time I have participated in a countless number of weddings, proms, make-up classes and including birthday events. Early in my childhood years I was always an artist at heart. Early on I knew then that Art was my passion and I knew that Art would always be apart of me, which is why I became a Makeup artist. As you may know, in the beauty industry, skincare is also just as important and it is something I am passionate about. Makeup and skincare come hand in hand. As a Licensed Esthetician, along with a Professional Make Up Artist, I love being able to express myself using everyone’s faces as my canvas and take pride in helping people feel beautiful from the inside out. In 2019, I had the opportunity of doing Make Up for a Grammy Nominee for best Jazz instrumental album. After her first experience, I then assisted with her make up for the sax magazine issued in Japan. I also was a contestant for the Boston Raw Artist show and have worked on a Carnival Series that can be seen on my instagram page.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Funny, I’m actually in the process of pivoting in my business right now, and just trying to figure out the direction that I would like to go in because one thing I realized when being a business owner it’s all about trial and error because there’s really no way of knowing something is going to work for you and your business until you actually try so I’m in the middle of making decisions that I feel is best for the brand and myself And it’s really just a learning journey for me at this time that I am appreciating every step of the way. That’s honestly one of the beauties about being a business owner is just making the changes needed in order to head in the direction that you want to see for yourself & the brand.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I would say, honestly, though my clientele isn’t as large as I would like it to be as I’m still continuing to grow I would say that word of mouth has been one of the best sources of gaining new clients as well as social media. Whenever I get a new client, I do ask how they found me and I find that those are the two main sources that I’ve consistently gained clients from. I try as much as I can to be consistent on social media as a lot of my potential customers are on social media, but I always appreciate the old fashion way of just word of mouth or just simply because they saw my face and ask who did my makeup and I handed them a business card, which has lead me to a handful of clients as well.
